  • Requirements include being located in or willing to relocate to Minneapolis, MN while being an undergraduate student, assisting Field Engineers in project analysis and report preparation, working hands-on to evaluate systems and products, following 'This is our normal' principle during the internship.

Responsibilities

Candidate must be located in or willing to relocate to the Minneapolis, MN area.

Leverage your Engineering education in an exciting Field role at UL this summer. In partnership with dedicated Field Engineers, you’ll work hands-on analyzing scope and determining requirements, evaluate complex product and systems, and prepare customer-facing reports for critical UL projects.

Field Engineering Internship "This is our normal"

This summer, you could be:

  • Performing safety and non-safety certification inspections in accordance with UL performance standards and requirements.
  • Interpreting and analyzing test results against UL requirements, verifying the accuracy of manufacturers’ measuring equipment and reviewing production and inspection records.
  • Communicating with manufacturers and customers while promoting the benefits of new and existing services.
  • Providing technical assistance in several product categories and/or inspection methods.
  • Maintaining logs for scheduling inspections, time, and expenses.
  • Performing various calculations in multiple engineering areas such as electrical, mechanical, chemical, and/or fire protection.

Qualifications

  • Students with expected graduation December 2024 or May 2025. Preferred concentration in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Quality Engineering.
  • General electronics background, and strong mechanical and technical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams.
  • Familiarity with micrometers, voltmeters, and ammeters.
  • Interest in developing cross-selling skills to better understand client business needs.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, and client-interfacing skills.
  • Ability to travel locally, regionally and work remotely. Travel requirements are generally for local travel within a set radius of home location. Travel outside area is expected on occasion for training purposes and additional support of workload in other territories.
  • The hourly range for this position is $27.00/hour.

Must be located in the Minneapolis, MN area.
