Job Description:
The Senior Interaction Designer simplifies complex products and user flows and makes them accessible, beneficial, intuitive, and easy to use products and product interfaces. The Senior Interaction Designer teams up with the various product managers, engineers, and product designers form the beginning of the product's life cycle to the end.
The Senior Interaction Designer takes part in the ideation and designing of breakthrough consumer experiences and innovative solutions through the business's product. From Research all the way to Production, the Senior Interaction Designer collaborates with product developers and product designers to develop innovative experiences that suit each and every faction of the consumer base.
This role relies heavily on cross-team partnerships, soft skills are an absolute must. Interaction designers must create compelling interfaces that seamlessly marry the visual design aspect of a site or app with functionality and usability. Critical soft skills for this role includes verbal and written communication, which is crucial for working between departments and with clients or end users. An outstanding interaction designer should be someone with a logical thought process who isn't afraid of complex problem solving and can anticipate what users want and need. As the roles can be fast paced, interaction designers must also possess outstanding time management and organizational abilities.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Interaction Designer with a passion for making complex systems intuitive and valuable. This individual provides excellent analytical and conceptual thinkers that translate user needs, business objectives and technology capabilities into innovative design. This position requires a strong foundation in user centered design methods and the ability to communicate design decisions effectively to senior stakeholders and colleagues.
This role is responsible for leading all aspects of the design process from customer research utilizing qualitative and quantitative methods, conceptualizing, storyboarding, detailed design and working with engineering teams on executing designs. Success depends on close collaboration and partnerships with end-users and subject matter experts, as well as product and technology counterparts. This position will take ownership of a domain to envision and craft conceptual frameworks, interaction design and the overall user experience of new products and major enhancements that recommends design patterns for our engineers/technologists to follow. This enables the ability to test solutions in real-time and instantaneously deliver software to customers.
Requirements
• Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in HCI, Interaction Design, Information Architecture, Visual Communication, or any design-related field.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field is a plus
• 7-10+ years of experience in several of the following: designing complex user workflows, decision-support systems, large dataset visualizations and framework-level interactions, information architecture, graphic/visual design, usability research/analysis
• Demonstrated ability to design, conduct and execute user research utilizing both qualitative and quantitative methods
• Track record of applying common User-Centered Design practices and tools to solve tough design problems
• Understanding of workflow systems, software development processes, and command center monitoring tools
• Familiarity with Agile and Lean UX methodologies
• Familiarity with designing across multiple platforms (desktop applications, mobile, web, etc.)
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
Portfolio Demonstration:
We are interested in reviewing a couple of your design projects for this position. We ideally would like to see artifacts from across the project lifecycle. Your representative projects may include, but should not be limited to: research, personas, sketches, site maps, task flows, wireframes, storyboards, etc. We are, however, most interested in seeing detailed wireframes (preferably a deck) illustrating a step-by-step user workflow for complex interfaces.
An ideal project to showcase for us would have an intricate user interface that you can use to explain your detailed design decisions. Experience working with interactive charting applications and/or data visualization design skills would be helpful. Please include two (2) projects where you can give us a "deep-dive" into your design process.
Additional requirements for the Senior Interaction Designer
• Software & Technology: Due to the position's requirement for engaging and in-depth visual presentations, a candidate must demonstrate proficiency in the latest designing platforms and be strongly familiar with building applications in Angular JS or React.
• Adaptability and Creativity: A Senior Interaction Designer will possess an ability to learn quickly and formulate immediate solutions for product improvements and enhancements. This is because the product market is constantly evolving and what will deliver complete satisfaction to the consumers today will not be what delivers them satisfaction tomorrow. The position, therefore, requires the occupier to have a high level of creativity and fast adaptability to come up with prompt solutions and product approaches that guarantee constant consumer satisfaction in a volatile marketplace.
• Communication Skills: The Senior Interaction Designer, as the title suggests, needs to possess excellent communication skills since the position demands a great deal of interaction with, product development and design departments as well as the consumers. Good communication skills will, therefore, ensure effective clear and effective communication and conveyance of information between all the involved parties. Communication skills for this position will have to be great both in written and verbal form.
• People Skills: The candidate for the position must also demonstrate exceptional people skills for the purpose of ensuring that all interactions necessary for the performance of the role's functions are carried out smoothly. This will ensure that the goal of enhancing consumer experience through the product is reached without unnecessary complications. People skills will also enable the Senior Interaction Designer to influence colleagues into accepting and adopting new product designs and enhancements and, therefore, speed up the process and facilitate prompt goal achievement.
• Interpersonal Skills: The most prominent interpersonal skill for this role is a passion and readiness to collaborate with other key creative persons in the business in order to come up with the best product approaches and solutions for the product regarding consumer experience.
