Job Description – Business Development Executive (Michigan, Illinois, Indiana)


Division / Department: Channel Sales

Reports to (position): Regional Sales Manager

Leadership Level: Individual Contributor

Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not supervise the work of others.

Location: Candidate must reside in Michigan, Illinois, or Indiana

Employment Type: Full Time, Exempt

Work Conditions: Remote, travel involved

Travel: 50% +

Years of Experience: 4 - 7 years of experience in a similar sales/channel management-related position with a heavy focus on prospecting.


Position Summary:

The CE Shop’s Business Development Executive is responsible for all activities related to increasing revenue growth through prospecting new accounts across Texas. Revenue generation will come primarily through prospecting new accounts and onboarding new partners. The BDE will work in partnership with an existing BDE to develop growth within local brokerages, schools, and associations across Texas. The BDE will work with management level decision makers and influencers and must exhibit a high level of industry and Texas specific sales knowledge to support the sales channels. It is essential that the BDE is creative and resourceful in prospecting potential clients to meet business objectives.


Essential Functions / Job Responsibilities:

  • Achieve sales quota and assigned account objectives; represent the entire range of company products and services to increase sales revenue and market share. Substantial prospecting for new opportunities both within the existing client base and prospective targets is essential. This includes identifying target potential through its size, product needs, and buying cycles. This due diligence will lead to expanding current and new relationships whereby the client considers The CE Shop their valued partner and trusted source for real estate education.
  • Work in partnership with existing BDE to increase revenue and create opportunities to help push and pull sales though the various sales channels.
  • Successfully implement new clients and drive adoption of The CE Shop’s products and services within the managed client base. This includes project management of the steps required to take new clients from contract signing, through the course approval process, to consistent revenue generation.
  • Develop a working knowledge of competitive products, programs, and pricing structures; analyze sales and industry trends and make appropriate recommendations to internal stakeholders to ensure long range planning needs are met and relationships are established.
  • Engage in business development strategies by cultivating partnerships and identifying market strategies to maximize product sales with strategic account relationships.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Proven experience in creating (prospecting, selling, closing, managing) strategic client relationships.
  • Experience in working with key decision makers and industry influencers resulting in successful channel penetration and increased market share.
  • Experience developing and implementing sales and service processes and supporting metrics through sales data collection and analysis.
  • Experience in, and working knowledge of, real estate industry needs and trends that support agents, brokerages, trade associations, and real estate schools. (E-learning sales experience preferred.)

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and excellent attention to detail
  • Experience and proven success with business development and national account management


Technical Skills Required:

  • MS Office Suite of products
  • Microsoft platform
  • Salesforce/CRM
  • Experience with video conferencing (Teams, GoToMeeting, etc.) and general A/V knowledge to effectively present to clients on site
  • Comfortable with learning and adapting to new technologies

Internal and External Interaction:

This position interacts with stakeholders both in and out of their department and their immediate manager on a regular basis. They interact with customers directly in daily interactions as well as escalation or support situations in a large geographical area. They may interact with managers in other departments and vendors.

Ancillary work that interferes with the Business Development Executive being able to perform their job will not be allowed.

Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000 plus 35% variable compensation / OTE: $81,000 - $94,500 per year
