Job Description:

Parsons Professional Services Incorporated is a Toronto-based practice with projects in the transit and transportation sector.

We work closely as an integrated practice and have developed high standards of communication, project documentation, contract administration, and risk management.

We are currently seeking Intermediate Architects to join our growing practice on a full-time basis. Salary to be commensurate with experience and expertise.

POSITION OVERVIEW: Independently performs a wide variety of conventional and moderately complex architectural assignments by applying architectural design standards, practices, and techniques. The incumbent at this level regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment in developing original designs and is proficient in the utilization of standard architectural techniques.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs a variety of assignments such as conducting architectural studies, developing design concepts and design criteria, and preparing related reports. Reviews CAD drawings, renderings, layouts, studymodelsl,s and construction documents.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Writes construction specifications and prepares detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.
  • Interfaces with suppliers as required. Coordinates work with engineering and construction representatives onsite.
  • Reviews approves, and issues detailed design and construction drawings and specifications prepared by others.
  • Provides technical guidance to others working on the same or similar projects.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Supervision Received - Project Architect; Project Manager; Supervision Given - Architectural Designer/Drafters (technical guidance only), Internal Contacts - All employees engaged on the project; External Contacts – Contractors, Suppliers; Client

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture (or equivalent) is required with 3-5 years of post-graduate experience. Professional registration is preferred but not required at this level.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: Requires proficiency in the application of architectural design standards, practices, and techniques, as well as a demonstrated proficiency in sketching, rendering, model-building, and presentation drawing. General proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit software are required.
