Work Location: LSU AgCenter, Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Position Description: This is a fully funded position for up to two years, but yearly continuation depends on satisfactory job performance. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to lead a project to monitor spotted wing drosophila in native mayhaws and develop an enhanced management program to strengthen the economic and environmental sustainability of the Louisiana mayhaw industry. The successful candidate will collaborate with cooperating farmers in wild and commercial mayhaw orchards to map spotted wing drosophila infestation timings and patterns of migration and to evaluate and validate sustainable control strategies.
Qualification Requirements: PhD in Entomology or related discipline. Experience in outreach, fruit crop production and pest management, and mating disruption is preferred. Proven ability in diligent documentation, record-keeping, and reporting of experimental data is required. Must have a valid driver's license.
Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
