Team or Function Overview
Asphalt Operations produces one of the most critical components that allows our Residential Roofing partners to manufacture the highest quality shingles in the industry, oxidized coating. Summary
The Oxidation Process Excellence Manager provides technical leadership and support to key stakeholders within the asphalt operations, manufacturing and supply chain organizations to improve safety, quality, productivity and reliability of our internal oxidation operations. They will lead and participate on cross-functional teams to develop and achieve strategic business objectives. These initiatives are essential to support both top-line and bottom-line company growth. This person will be responsible for the identification and deployment of improvement opportunities across asphalt operations as well as ensuring the continued safe and reliable operation of our oxidation assets. The successful candidate will be the subject matter expert (SME) for our oxidation processes and will provide direction, coaching, leadership, and mentoring to our engineers and other support disciplines.
Essential Duties
- Make recommendations for process and equipment changes, including process redesign and business case development as needed.
- Work with key stakeholders to solve operational problems and improve consistency of operations across asphalt oxidation plants.
- Utilize analytical tools (Wonderware, Braincube, etc.) to analyze operations inputs and identify opportunities for improvement (quality, efficiency, reliability, cost, etc.)..
- Monitor and analyze asphalt data by operating site to help improve downstream shingle quality.
- Work with the asphalt operations team and plants to develop, adopt and implement best practices across all Asphalt Oxidation Plants to improve safety, quality, productivity and flexibility.
- Drive consistency and optimization of finished coating properties through the deployment of equipment and process improvements.
- Benchmark industry leading process and equipment standards and deploy across the network.
- Primary technical resource for process technical knowledge. Participate in plant problem solving and debottlenecking efforts. Provide technical and operations support (remote or on site) for the oxidation plants as needed.
- Participate in HAZOP analysis and lead required process changes and new equipment introductions resulting from this analysis.
- Support capital project process design, scope development, justification and cost estimating for strategic asphalt projects. Provide input into the development of project scope and design.
- Recommend capital projects in an effort to systematically improve the performance of the manufacturing process with new or modified equipment which will improve cost and quality. Assist with project justification and implementation as needed; track performance.

- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Under This Roof, We Require
- A BS Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical with Mechanical preferred)
- Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated detailed technical and operations skills in refinery or chemical processing manufacturing
- Demonstrated ability in applying Lean Manufacturing concepts, practices & procedures with proven quantifiable results.
- Analytical Troubleshooting Techniques, Statistical analysis – Six Sigma Methodology, Quality Process Improvement principles
- Demonstrated ability to work with and provide expertise in maintenance, operations, and process.
- Demonstrated safety leadership skills.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S., without current or future requirement for sponsorship of an employment-based visa status
- Minimum travel requirement of 50%-60%

Annual Salary Range: 117,000-149,500
