Overview

This exciting role is within our Scotland Corporate Tax Advisory & Compliance team, based in our Edinburgh, Glasgow or Aberdeen offices. The role is split between a focus on tax reporting within our national AARTS team (“audit and accounting related tax services”) and our corporate tax compliance business.

Our clients include UK headquartered businesses and inbound groups across a range of sectors.

We work as a hybrid team where we get together in the office or at client sites at least twice a week to collaborate and learn together, with flexibility over how you spend the rest of your time.

The role

  • Working closely with Partners and/or Directors on complex projects to deliver technically excellent advice and service
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and understanding their business in order to build your own external network and create opportunities to help with the provision of tax and other services
  • Managing UK and cross border teams on tax reporting and UK corporation tax compliance projects, liaising with specialists, overseas member firms and external advisers, critically analysing and challenging their input to deliver successful projects and expertise to our clients
  • Managing aspects of the team’s operations and performance, including resourcing and coaching and developing junior team members
  • Seeking out and pursuing opportunities with clients and targets and actively participating with Partners and Directors in business development activities
  • Managing our engagement quality and risk processes and client financials
  • Being a role model for KPMG’s values


The person

  • Qualified CTA or ACA / CA or equivalent
  • Ambitious and enthusiastic
  • Strong UK corporation tax knowledge and awareness of other tax matters
  • Strong understanding of tax accounting concepts under IFRS, UK GAAP (knowledge of US GAAP also desirable).
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills, curious and a commercial approach to resolving issues and providing advice
  • Excellent project management skills, including ability to work as part of a team and to show initiative to drive projects forward
  • Brings insight and effectively applies knowledge to business and client problems
  • Sound judgement, including the ability to identify and evaluate risk issues and know when to involve others
  • Ability to multi-task and manage a range of clients, projects and relationships
  • Strong motivation to develop and coach junior team members
  • Dedication to continuously develop skills technical knowledge
