About Us

Advex is a seed stage tech startup backed by Construct Capital, PearVC, and the founders of Dropbox and Gradient Ventures.

Our team comes with over a decade of industry and research experience from top organizations and labs like CMU, Berkeley AI Research Lab, Google Brain, Scale AI, and Qualcomm. We've previously founded and sold companies and created products used over 30 million times. Our team has also published research papers and won research competitions at top conferences like ICLR, ICML, AAAI.

Role Description

As a Research Engineer at Advex, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's technical direction. Your hands-on involvement will include working with our CTO to spearhead research in solving the controllability problem for diffusion models. As we expand, you will contribute heavily to the architectural roadmap, laying the foundation for the Advex platform. Your technical leadership will be instrumental in supporting and growing our engineering and product teams.

We are seeking an individual who is strategic, capable of transforming research constraints and product specifications into an enterprise-ready application. We value self-starters who aren't afraid to dive into the details and iterate on prototypes in the early stages of development.

About You

We are seeking a candidate who embodies the following qualifications and characteristics:

• 3 to 5 years of industry experience in Deep Learning

• Deep technical expertise in generative modeling, specifically diffusion models. Proven track record through papers and/or production ready project(s) in industry.

• Experiences in end to end ML application development, including data engineering, model tuning, and model serving

• Technical expertise demonstrated through published papers or industry experience:

  • Diffusion - LDM, unconditional image generation, t2i, i2i, model finetuning approaches such as IP adapter, textual inversion, and LoRA

  • Understanding of concepts in self-supervised learning (e.g.MAE, BYOL, Dino, VAE)

  • (bonus) Vision language models

• Proven track record of rapidly delivering complex project within tight deadlines

• Ability to make critical decisions with little information

• Excel at identifying bottlenecks and gaps within research papers and swiftly translating them into code.

• Prior experience working at a startup - (nice-to-have)
