Description
Michael Baker International is seeking an experienced and motivated Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) professional to join our team. The successful candidate will understand leading and managing projects that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in support of a FEMA contract. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to develop and implement DE&I principles into programmatic initiatives, tracking progress, and ensuring that goals are met. This position will be crucial for fostering an inclusive environment and supporting the efforts to integrate DE&I principles across a range of projects and programs. The position may be remote but will report to the Emergency Management and Response office in Alexandria, Virginia. The role will primarily support the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) but may be asked to help with other contracts as needs arise.
- Develop and Implement DE&I Strategies: Create and execute strategies to foster diverse, equitable, and inclusive processes on behalf of FEMA and other clients.
- Project Management: Oversee DE&I projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Collaboration: Work with clients, project leadership, and other stakeholders to integrate DE&I practices into all aspects of the contract.
- Training and Development: Collaborate on the design and delivery of training programs to educate project and client staff on DE&I topics.
- Coach and mentor team members, with a focus on developing DEI competencies and driving effective execution of efforts.
- Support stakeholder outreach and engagement efforts to promote inclusive engagement.
- Works with team members and clients to support the development of scopes, schedules, budgets, assumptions, and constraints for projects.
- Confers with team members to provide advice, counsel, and resolve problems.
- Creative problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Proactive communicator with clear and effective communication, using both oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to build rapport and establish positive relationships with existing and prospective Michael Baker International clients to ensure client-focused performance
Professional Requirements
- Four-year bachelor’s degree in human resources, social sciences, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience.
- Proven experience in DE&I initiatives.
- Due to contract requirements, the candidate must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
- Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ownership and accountability for work.
- Capability to work in a dynamic environment, including a demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a wide array of individuals from various backgrounds, including engineers, planners, GIS professionals, federal, tribal, and state government officials, and the public.
- Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
Preferred
- DE&I certification or related credentials.
- Understanding of National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
- Ability to travel periodically, as needed (less than 10%))
- Industry involvement (e.g., Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) and Project Management Institute (PMI) are preferred.
- Bilingual English and Spanish proficiency are desirable.
- Experience directly working with diverse communities.
All team members supporting CERC must be a U. S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident and obtain a Public Trust suitability prior to entry on duty (EOD).
Compensation
The approximate compensation range for this position $75,095-$118,302 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
