The Team Lead, Data Engineering will be responsible for leading a team of Data Engineers and Analysts, including hiring, onboarding, and training new team members. Direct the Data projects and vision. This role requires someone who has the vision to partner with product management and others to design and build scaled, low-latency data platforms to enable research, analytics, monitoring and reporting services.
What you bring to the role
- Proven experience in a team lead or project management role, demonstrating the ability to effectively guide and motivate team members while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- At least 8 years of extensive experience in data engineering
- Track record of driving delivery and scaling improvements
- Strong knowledge of Python, AWS, Snowflake, and SQL
- Experience working in a Linux environment
- Experience working with ETL processes and unstructured data
- Passion for technology and building a strong, motivated team of engineers
Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor a team of engineers and analysts responsible for designing, building, and operating our growing data platform.
- Support our Data Science, Analytics and Machine Learning teams as well as externally facing product applications.
- Mentor Data Engineers and Analysts to improve and maintain data platforms, pipelines, and tools to keep pace with the growth of our data and its consumers. This includes internal (employees) external (customer) stakeholders.
- Instill a spirit of continuous improvement in the team’s code, architecture, and processes
- Recruit technical talent and build a world-class Data Engineering team
- Transform requirements into designs and estimate resources/time required
- Define systems and software architecture using modern patterns and frameworks
- Adopt modern platforms and manage resources effectively to optimize value
Evaluate and reimagine current Products, Platforms and Tools, including:
- Data collection, storage, analysis, visualization, and reporting
- Integrate payment data and third-party analytics
- Support financial reporting, settlements & reconciliation
