The following position is to join our RTX Technology Research Center:
RTX Technology Research Center (RTRC) serves as the innovation hub for RTX. We conduct basic and applied research in a stimulating multi-disciplinary environment where scientists, engineers, practitioners, and subject matter experts collaborate and exchange experience. By combining a passion for science and research with precision engineering we create smart and sustainable solutions and products that help our businesses shape the future.
The Acoustics team at RTRC invites individuals with expertise in experimental and/or computational aeroacoustics to apply for a 2025 Summer Internship position. We are seeking an intern to join our cohesive team of research engineers and technicians who are focused on developing innovative technologies and solving challenging problems for aerospace and defense applications.
What You Will do
The intern is expected to be innovative in the delivery of measurement techniques or novel modeling capabilities and technologies through creative analysis and problem solving; to possess the ability to engage and collaborate in a fast-paced multi-faceted environment; and to communicate research results effectively through both verbal and written means.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Currently enrolled in either a Master's or Ph.D. degree program in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or closely related field. Please submit a copy of your academic transcripts with your application.
- 1+ years of experience in aeroacoustics as applied to propulsion systems, rotor technologies, turbomachinery, compression systems, acoustic liners, or high-speed flows.
- 1+ years of experience in the application of experimental or computational skills towards the development of new technologies.

Location: This position can be hybrid in East Hartford, CT or remote.
Please consider the following role type definitions as you apply for this role:
Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.
Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.
The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
