Job description

In this position, you'll collaborate closely with product, operations, and brokerage teams to create effective machine learning solutions addressing critical business needs. You'll engage in end-to-end development, from understanding complex data sets to validating solutions through experimentation. Your work will have a direct impact on empowering real estate investors, buyers, and sellers with informed decision-making tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Exploration and Analysis: Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to understand data intricacies and identify opportunities for impactful machine learning applications.
  • Machine Learning Solution Development: Design and implement mathematical or machine learning-based solutions to real estate challenges, such as:
    • An algorithm for intelligently matching buyers/sellers and real estate agents.
    • Predictive models to determine user intent (e.g., buying or selling).
    • Real estate valuation models that predict sale prices, property tax, and square footage.
  • Experiment Design and Testing: Propose and test solutions through offline validation and A/B testing to evaluate and improve the algorithms before launch.
  • Communication of Insights: Present complex findings to stakeholders through data visualizations, clear reports, and verbal explanations to ensure alignment with product goals.
  • Launch Planning: Develop strategic roadmaps with your manager, focusing on each solution's effort and impact for phased launches.
Qualifications:
  • Educational Background: Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, or computer science.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 3 years in data science, data analytics, or machine learning, with a proven track record of applying scientific principles to solve business problems.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data manipulation and model development.
    • Experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks like sklearn, pandas, scipy, xgboost, catboost, and visualization tools such as matplotlib and seaborn.
    • Strong foundation in statistical analysis, including regression, distribution properties, and statistical testing.
    • Practical experience in experiment design, including A/B testing.
    • Preferred familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB) and visualization tools (Google Data Studio, Google Analytics 4).
