We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Kangaroo Math Instructor to deliver online classes tailored to Kangaroo Math standards and aligned with the US Common Core curriculum. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering critical thinking and problem-solving in students through engaging and interactive virtual lessons. This remote position allows educators to connect with learners globally, preparing them for math challenges and competitions.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Design & Lesson Delivery
Develop lesson plans that combine Kangaroo Math concepts with the US Common Core curriculum.
Teach mathematical problem-solving strategies, logic, and creative thinking aligned with Kangaroo Math standards.
Cover topics such as number theory, geometry, fractions, measurement, and logical puzzles.
Use innovative teaching methods, including interactive tools, games, and visual aids, to make learning enjoyable and impactful.
Student Engagement & Support
Foster a positive online learning environment that encourages participation and curiosity.
Introduce students to real-world problem-solving scenarios inspired by Kangaroo Math competitions.
Provide personalized support to help students overcome challenges and excel in mathematical reasoning.
Competition Preparation
Prepare students for Kangaroo Math competitions by introducing them to past question patterns and solving techniques.
Encourage critical and analytical thinking skills to solve non-routine problems.
Provide practice sessions and feedback to enhance problem-solving speed and accuracy.
Assessment & Progress Tracking
Conduct regular quizzes, assignments, and mock tests to assess student progress.
Provide detailed feedback to students and parents on strengths and areas for improvement.
Adapt lesson plans to meet individual learning needs and goals.
Technical & Administrative Responsibilities
Use EdTech tools like Zoom, Google Classroom, or other LMS platforms for seamless lesson delivery.
Maintain accurate attendance, grading records, and lesson documentation.
Troubleshoot technical issues and guide on accessing online resources.
Requirements
Education & Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus.
Teaching certification and experience with Kangaroo Math or competitive math programs are preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years teaching math, with experience in Kangaroo Math or similar competitions.
Familiarity with the US Common Core curriculum and international math competitions.
Skills:
Strong mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in teaching abstract concepts to diverse learners effectively.
Expertise in using EdTech platforms to create interactive and engaging lessons.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with students and parents.
Technical Requirements:
A stable internet connection, a computer with a webcam and microphone, and familiarity with virtual teaching tools.
