Volunteers of America (VOA) is a faith-based, nationwide nonprofit organization dedicated to helping those in need rebuild their lives and reach their full potential. The VOA network includes more than 16,000 full-time professionals empowering 1.5 million people annually through our 29 affiliates in 46 states. We provide hundreds of service programs, including those for seniors and people with disabilities, those experiencing homelessness, and those recovering from addiction. VOA is one of the nation’s most comprehensive human services charities, offering programs for communities, individuals and families. 

VOA is seeking a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Intern. The person in this role will be an integral member of the DEI Team and the Intern 2025 cohort team.  The selected candidate will be a dynamic, flexible, self-starter that possesses a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for Health Equity. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and communication skills, research and data collection skills, good time management, an ability to stay on task and a willingness to learn new areas.

This position extends the opportunity for part-time and full-time hours (up to 35 hours per week)

This position extends the opportunity for On-Site, Hybrid and Remote work schedules

The internship is unpaid, however, a stipend is provided  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with research efforts
  • Request data and conduct interviews as needed with internal and external stakeholders
  • Compile and organize data related to Health Equity cohort
  • Summarize data and draft narratives for use in internal and external materials and case studies
  • Assist with the creation of a white paper based on research findings
  • Make recommendations based on findings
  • Support activities, organizational impact, and policy functions in connection with Volunteers of America’s DEI strategic objectives
  • Summarize data and draft narratives for use in internal and external materials and case studies
  • Make recommendations based on findings
  • Assist in the creation of online content across social channels
  • Assist in the preparation of meeting materials

Qualifications:

Physical Capabilities:

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods
