Medical Coding Manager - Stony Brook Surgical Associates, UFPC
Location: Stony Brook, NY
Schedule: Full Time
Days/Hours: 9-5 (HYBRID WORK FROM HOME / ONSITE)
Salary Range: $79,846 - $91,926 (pay will be determined based on experience, preferred qualifications, and education)

Responsibilities:
SUMMARY: The Coding Manager will assist the Department Administrator with the day-to-day operations of the coding unit.
Job Duties & Essential Functions:
- Act as a resource with regards to coding policies and procedures to both staff and providers.
- Oversee the activities of assigned employees by communicating and providing guidance towards achieving department objectives.
- Oversee the coding workflow and processes
- Oversee the coding QA process
- Attend meetings and related training sessions
- Act as liaison and problem solver between physician and staff with regards to coding, charge entry and documentation support
- Prepare reports related to fiscal, operational issues, or patient care as directed by Department Administrator.
- Review and monitor coding productivity expectations
- All other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
Required Education & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Professional through the AAPC or AHIMA with one or more of the following certifications preferred: Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Specialist – Physician Based (CCS-P)
- 1 year of documented supervisor experience
- Ability to communicate with Physicians, Managers and Division Chiefs in a professional manner
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency use of Microsoft Office applications
- Proficiency in EMR Systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree
- Proficiency in GE Centricity and Cerner
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate
information in these situations. This position is largely sedentary and requires the employee to remain stationary for a majority of the day. Any additional physical demands will be outlined and provided by management.
