At In Tandem, our tech solutions—which include OurFamilyWizard, Cozi, FamilyWall, and Custody Navigator—work in tandem with families to simplify daily life, fostering connection, organization, and peace of mind throughout key stages and milestones of family life.
We believe technology can champion deeper connections within families, strengthen bonds, and improve communication. Our family of brands provides a range of solutions that streamline daily routines, offer resources and guidance during challenging times, and help families navigate those challenges with confidence, calm, and ease.
As a Senior Engineering Manager with OurFamilyWizard you will be guiding, coaching, and leading a technical team focused on making life a little bit easier for families on their co-parenting journey. You will be responsible for nurturing your team by supporting the growth of engineers on the team and establishing strong engineering practices. We will rely on you to help your team to identify "how” a problem is solved, and plan for “when” it will be delivered.
You have a strong technical background and have come to find your true calling in building teams and helping others grow. You like leading a team, relying on their technical input, and supporting a diverse collection of individuals in coming together to solve problems and create products that are greater than the sum of their parts.
What you will accomplish:
The first 90 days of your journey will provide a broad opportunity to acclimate to our culture, processes, and people. You’ll partner with the Engineering leadership team to help organize and optimize processes across the org. After you’ve delivered some early wins with org-wide impact and are acclimated to our culture and way of working you’ll settle into a role leading a cross-functional team with direct reports.
Build relationships, assess the landscape.
The first 30 days will be spent building rapport with product and engineering peers, partners across the business, and getting to know the broader engineering organization. This initial acclimation period will have you shadowing our current Engineering Leaders in their day to day to get to know your new leadership peers, the folks that make up our teams, and the ceremonies and processes that guide execution.
Focus on consistency, measure what matters.
The next 30 days of your onboarding will involve continuing to strengthen relationships throughout the org while observing team practices, cataloging consistent and inconsistent behaviors, and highlighting what’s working well and where there are opportunities to grow and improve. Alongside this survey of practices and processes you’ll be partnering with the Engineering leadership team on instrumenting processes and gathering data across tools to help us operate with a more data-driven approach.
Early Organizational impact.
By day 90 you’ll strive to drive an organizational change with measurable impact. This starts with creating org-wide understanding of current processes across teams and forming hypotheses on adjustments to our practices that improve our performance. You'll then drive a change to our operations to help us measure and learn, in turn establishing a pattern for continuous improvement.
Settle into a team.
After getting comfortable with our people and processes you’ll settle into leading a cross functional team with direct reports. You will focus on consistent execution that minimizes disruption by serving a team in producing simple solutions, ensuring complexity is aligned to value, coaching the team on technical best practices, facilitating collaboration, and keeping tasks small and approachable. You’ll facilitate a collaborative approach to addressing challenges with a sustained focus on customer value: what is the pain point to families, why are we solving it (now), and finally how?
We're continuously improving, and excited to have a new leader bring a fresh, pragmatic perspective to help us upgrade existing tools, implement new technology, reorient the team around new priority metrics, and drive towards creating a greater evidence-based technical culture.
Who you are:
- Low ego, high integrity. You value doing what’s right for our customers and our team over being right.
- Servant leader. You measure your impact as a leader by the success of the team, and ensure the success of the collective by supporting, challenging, and appreciating the individuals.
- People first problem-solver. You recognize solving hard problems starts with supporting the people tasked with the solution, and guide those around you with empathy, trust, and transparency.
- Courageous coach. You understand consistent execution starts with clear expectations, and are confident and comfortable establishing a goal, whether it be an individual or a team, and measuring and managing progress towards that goal.
- Curious operator. You value the variance in challenges a cross-functional team encounters and embrace unexpected hurdles with a mindset that seeks to understand the landscape before charting a course towards a solution.
- Pragmatic optimizer. You identify when something’s harder than it should be, articulate why change is needed, and affect change through incremental improvements towards an audacious end goal.
