Princeton University Press (PUP) seeks an enthusiastic, inspired, and highly organized professional with at least 1 year of experience in acquisitions editorial to be the Editorial Associate to the Biology Editor. The Editorial Associate assists the Biology Editor in signing, developing, and publishing distinctive and outstanding books in biology, and serves as an essential liaison between authors and the Press.
The Editorial Associate will work with the Editorial Director in supporting projects through all stages of the life cycle of the book, from concept through post-publication. In particular, the Editorial Associate will take a leading role in the management of the biology list, including coordination of peer review, preparation of project budgets and descriptions for meetings, contract preparation and tracking, managing a large pipeline of projects under contract including maintaining data integrity, management of a book series and communication with series editors, support for strategic implementation of E&I goals for the list, transmittal of manuscripts to production, conducting research where necessary, and general communication within the organization and beyond.

Position Requirements
- A minimum of 1 year experience in acquisitions editorial within book publishing is required.
- An interest in science is preferred but not required.
- Exposure to tasks unenumerated above.
- A curiosity for and confidence with scholarly publishing.
- Strong and versatile communication skills as the role entails in person and in meeting conversation, as well as multi format written communication.
- Capacity for problem solving.
- Demonstrable time-management and organizational skills, and appreciation for detail.
- Confidence with independent work, and as part of a larger collective with common goals.
- Advocacy skills.
- Degree from a four-year college or university preferred but not required, or equivalent experience.
- Computer proficiency, including databases and Microsoft Office.

- Travel required, approximately one to four times per year to attend conferences.

Base Salary: $48,000/year plus extensive benefits package. Starting salary may be negotiable based on relevant skills and prior experience.
