Job description

As a Lead Data Product Manager, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of our strategic data products, from ideation to launch. Collaborating with cross-functional teams—including engineering, analytics, and business partners—you will define a clear vision, establish scalable frameworks, and ensure our data capabilities deliver measurable value to the organization and our customers. In this role, you will bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions, shaping innovative data products that empower stakeholders to make informed decisions and unlock new growth opportunities.
 
This role will report to VP, Data & Analytics within the Business Technology (BT) organization. BT powers Workiva’s growth, enhances the employee experience, and boosts organizational productivity with tech-driven transformation and innovative solutions. The Data & Analytics team drives data-driven decisions and innovations across Workiva.

What You’ll Do 
Define the Data Product Vision

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to proactively understand and synthesize data needs across business functions

  • Identify common components and foundational data requirements to build scalable data models and analytical solutions

  • Develop a compelling vision and roadmap for strategic data products that align with business objectives and drive measurable outcomes

Drive Cross-Functional Prioritization and Alignment

  • Establish and socialize a cross-functional prioritization framework to balance competing needs and drive stakeholder alignment

  • Lead ongoing prioritization efforts, ensuring a balance between consensus building and time to value

Lead Data Product Development

  • Manage the full lifecycle of key data products, including requirements gathering, development, and launch

  • Define and enforce processes and standards to ensure data products meet the diverse needs of stakeholders

  • Efficiently multitask across various data initiatives, balancing long-term strategic goals with immediate tactical needs

Drive Adoption and Measure Success

  • Engage with data users pre- and post-launch to ensure data products deliver on their intended business outcomes

  • Define success metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the adoption, accountability, and impact of data products

Build to Scale

  • Partner with Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, BI Engineering, and Decision Science teams to design and implement scalable data models, pipelines, and analytical solutions

  • Identify opportunities to streamline data ingestion, transformation, and delivery processes, ensuring efficiency and accuracy at scale

  • Leverage cutting-edge technologies and best practices to future-proof our data infrastructure and maximize the impact of analytical capabilities

Foster a Data-Driven Culture

  • Craft and present compelling data stories to inspire action and engagement from both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Develop and deliver enablement resources—such as workshops, training sessions, and documentation—that empower teams to effectively utilize data tools and products

What You’ll Need 
Minimum Qualifications 

  • 8+ years of product management experience in a related industry

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent technical experience

  • Proven track record of delivering impactful data products that drive business growth and innovation

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Background in SaaS or experience working with subscription-based business models

  • Deep understanding of data architecture, ETL processes, APIs, machine learning, and analytical best practices

  • Strong understanding of data pipelines, databases, data models, and analytics platforms

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, bridging technical and non-technical audiences

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in defining product vision, establishing requirements, coordinating resources, and navigating key milestones.

  • Ability to analyze and use data to inform decision-making and product prioritization

  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a beginner’s mindset and the ability to execute complex product initiatives

  • Experience with tools we use every day (Cloud Platforms: AWS, Snowflake), (Data Technologies: Redshift, BigQuery, Fivetran, Airflow, dbt), (Visualization Tools: Quicksight, Superset, or Python libraries (e.g., Seaborn, Matplotlib), (Analytics: SQL, SageMaker)

Travel Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Less than 20% travel

  • Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, not in a Workiva office

How You’ll Be Rewarded

✅ Salary range in the US: $151,000.00 - $242,000.00

✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually

✅ Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire

✅ 401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package

The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the US. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and other relevant factors.
