The Head of Transaction Monitoring Unit is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the company's transaction monitoring function. This critical role will ensure compliance with all applicable anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorism financing (CTF), and sanctions regulations. The ideal candidate will be a highly analytical and results-oriented individual with strong leadership and communication skills.

Your regular tasks

  • Active management and QA of transaction monitoring (AML & anti-fraud) team
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and areas for improvement in transaction monitoring (AML & anti-fraud) teamwork and constant ongoing optimisation
  • Handle cases escalated by the transaction monitoring team
  • Oversee the transaction monitoring (AML & anti-fraud) team SLAs about AML & anti-fraud related cases (review delays reasons and offer solutions)
  • Suspicious activity identification, investigation, monitoring and reporting
  • Customers' profiles review (based on alerts identified during transaction monitoring)
  • Prepare, review, and update transaction monitoring-related policies, procedures, and instructions
  • Identify, manage & escalate suspected and actual money laundering, sanctions breaches and fraud cases through the relevant escalation path
  • Ensure transaction monitoring systems, procedures and standards are in line with PayDo Policies
  • Develop and track key risk indicators (KRI's)
  • Provide business AML expertise, identifying an AML gap, implementing controls, advising and monitoring corrective actions, improving procedures and policies
  • Assist with the review of new controls to mitigate risks and reduce false positives to improve efficiency across the team
  • Prioritize the work and backlog for TM AML/Anti-fraud specialists
  • Act as a hiring manager in the time additional hiring is needed
  • Generate suspicious activity reports and risk management reports
  • Cooperate with other departments/teams (e.g. Customer Support team) in resolving customer issues within the TM scopes
  • Monitor constantly customer and transactional records to identify suspicious activity
  • Oversee development, integration and evaluation of TM infrastructure
  • Re-build and structure knowledge base for TM team, identify gaps, offer solutions
  • Prepare weekly/monthly/Compliance Committee/management reports on TM teamwork results (e.g. statistics of transactions reviewed, transactions reject reasons) and communicate all relevant compliance issues and escalate any important or high-risk compliance issues

Skills & Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in TM & AML Compliance and Risk management, preferably in the financial services industry & fast-paced, high-growth environment (Electronic Money or Payment Institutions would be an advantage)
  • 2+ years of leadership experience (5+ subordinates)
  • Experience working with complex Customers such as financial institutions, gambling, IT/Software, Marketing, or forex clients is a must
  • Experience describing and implementing policies from scratch
  • Strong understanding of UK/EU directives, and global AML/CFT standards
  • Familiarity with risk management frameworks and industry best practices
  • Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Expertise in using transaction monitoring systems and tools
  • C1 (Fluent) level of English Proficiency

As a plus

  • CAMS certification or equivalent
  • A bachelor's degree in Finance, Law, or a related field is a significant advantage
