About the role
This position is with the Global Strategic Communications Council (GSCC), a global network of communications professionals in the field of climate, energy and nature. GSCC is a programme hosted by the Meliore Foundation.
We're looking for an innovative and experienced France Desk Lead, Strategic Communications and Campaigns. The right candidate will have a unique combination of skills and want to play a major role in tackling climate change and galvanising action, helping to speed up the energy transition in France, Europe, and beyond.
You’ll be joining our 3 person French desk within the Europe Team, leading GSCC France’s work to increase political attention and action on climate. Overall we are a 25 person Europe wide team of campaigners, media and digital experts who use strategic communications to get climate action to the top of the political agenda.
GSCC team members devise and deliver campaigns, and give strategic advice, communications and outreach support to partners. We work as part of a global network of communications experts to enhance the public debate on climate change and its solutions on a broader level. The work will involve maintaining trusted relationships with key journalists and stakeholders in France.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Europe Countries, this role requires developing a France strategy and specific campaigns in line with the overarching Europe strategy, maintaining and building our network of partners and working with French colleagues to increase political and media attention to our key issues.
If this sounds like you, we'd love for you to apply.

- Deliver newsworthy, high quality communications interventions (press releases, quotes, op-eds, social media content, voices for broadcast media) in line with strategic objectives. Monitor and evaluate the impact and outcomes of work.
- Pitch stories to French media that drive climate action, using timely, targeted messaging tailored to resonate with local audiences
- Make judgement calls on how and when interventions should be made in order to influence the public or political debate and advance climate action. Be reactive to opportunities.

- Closely following the political and media debates in France to identify opportunities for engagement and acting as a source for intelligence for colleagues and partners.
- Any other duties to be assigned from time to time.
