Job description

COJK is seeking qualified candidates to fill a full-time Junior Level Legal Assistant position. Junior Legal Assistant candidates will possess 1-2 years of experience with administrative work; knowledge of the USPTO Patent Center is a plus. Candidate must possess good organizational and communication skills, be flexible and willing to assume additional responsibilities as requested, be adept at working in a remote environment, and be able to work under pressure and produce quality work products. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist paralegals with managing communications from attorneys, clients, and foreign associates
  • Prepare initial drafts of letters and emails
  • Confirm /acknowledge receipt of communications from associates and clients
  • Provide word processing services: preparation and editing of pending claims, formatting PCT applications
  • Provide support in maintaining dockets for paralegals
  • Assist with maintenance of current addresses for clients and inventors
  • Order certified copies from the USPTO
  • Arrange for certified copies to be sent to foreign associates
  • Upload documents to internal database and client databases
  • Assist attorneys and paralegals with the maintenance of internal spreadsheets to track projects
  • Schedule task reminders in the Document Management System
  • Manage other tasks as needed
  • Attend department meetings and meetings with supervisors

Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office products
  • Strong aptitude for delivering exceptional customer service
  • Willingness and ability to be flexible
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines 
  • A self-starter who will seek opportunities to provide support and learn new skills 
  • Ability to thrive in a remote work environment, maintaining productivity and effective communication
