What You Will Be Doing: 

RegEd is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Associate Editor.  Our editorial team maintains our industry-leading catalog of securities continuing education content. Will work with the Managing Editors to update self-study courses, exam material, supporting documents, and curriculum library. Duties include writing annual courses that satisfy Firm Element training and Annual Compliance Meeting requirements while maintaining the relevance and accuracy of our 175-course catalog. This position is ideal for someone experienced in securities and education and willing to develop their editorial skills in a dynamic and supportive environment. You should have writing and editing experience with adult learning principles, bureaucratic organizational skills, and respect for deadlines. Exam item writing experience is ideal.

 

You’ve Got What It Takes If You Have: 

Content Creation: Assist in developing, editing, and updating securities continuing education materials, supporting content, exam items, and marketing materials under RegEd's publishing guidelines. Research a wide variety of regulatory sources and draft new interactive courses to reflect changing regulatory and firm interests. Develop custom content for clients. Write for a variety of audiences, including retail broker-dealers, institutional broker-dealers, wholesalers, municipal securities broker-deals and municipal advisers, registered investment advisers, and certified financial planners. Common topics include variable annuities, mutual fund share classes, social media, personal securities trading, outside business activities, gifts and entertainment, anti-money laundering, vulnerable adults and financial exploitation, suitability, Regulation Best Interest, ethics, and supervision. 

Research & Update: Regularly update content to reflect changes in regulations and industry practices. Conduct research to ensure content is accurate, current, and compliant. Conduct content needs analysis. Incorporate reviewer feedback. 

Quality Assurance: Review and proofread content for clarity and correctness. Update library catalog for completeness. Adhere to firm style and standards. 

Project Management: Manage scope of work and timelines during analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of courses. Monitor and edit several deliverables simultaneously. Maintain calendar and content schedule transparency. Maintain current catalog metadata.

Collaboration: Work closely with senior editors, subject matter experts, customer support, marketing, and sales to produce high-quality content and course suggestions. Manage relationships with contractors to develop content. Participate in status meetings, provide project updates, and conduct or contribute to occasional presentations. Work with RegEd's e-learning team to publish courses. Use strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work proactively with a wide range of individuals at all levels of the organization.

Must Have:  

 

  • Project Management: Experience managing multiple obligations simultaneously in a rapidly changing, fast-paced regulatory environment. 
  • Adaptable: Willingness to learn and adapt to challenges and industry changes. 
  • Proven ability to work independently and thrive in a remote environment. 
  • Experienced Editor & Writer: Ability to research, analyze, summarize, update, and write accurate instructional content on course topics. Able to understand and simplify complex financial concepts, reflecting the needs of target learners. Able to write effective multiple-choice exam items. Familiarity with principles of adult learning and able to apply them to developing courses.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and internet and web application technologies. Familiar with development and implementation of eLearning.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, journalism, English, instructional design, or a related field.

The compensation range for this position is $50,000 - $100,000. RegEd's compensation package is based on each candidate's unique skills, qualifications and experience. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience and qualifications.  The total compensation package also includes our comprehensive benefits package, vacation time, sick time, volunteer time and parental leave.
