Job description

Role Summary

As a Sales Specialist, Distributor Payments you will play a critical role in driving business growth by identifying, engaging, and closing opportunities with food distributors who can benefit from our tailored payment solutions.

 

This position requires a blend of strategic thinking, industry expertise, and consultative selling skills. You will serve as both a problem-solver and a trusted advisor, helping food distributors overcome challenges such as optimizing their A/R workflow and modernizing their back office. 

 

In this role, you will actively develop and execute a targeted sales strategy, leveraging your knowledge of B2B payments and the food distribution market to create compelling value propositions. You will be responsible for managing the full sales cycle—from prospecting and initial outreach to onboarding, and post-sale relationship management. This is a unique opportunity to influence the product roadmap as this role reports directly to the EVP, Product. 

You will collaborate closely with internal teams, including product development, customer success, technical support, and marketing, to ensure a seamless experience for clients. Additionally, you will stay ahead of industry trends, providing valuable feedback to refine our offerings and strengthen our position as a market leader. 

 

Your success will be measured by your ability to meet and exceed sales targets, secure long-term client relationships, and contribute to the company’s growth within the food distribution industry.

 

What you will do

Client Acquisition:

  • Identify, prospect, and engage with food distributors to offer tailored payment processing solutions.
  • Develop a pipeline of potential clients through networking, cold calling, referrals, and industry events.

Solution Selling:

  • Understand the unique payment challenges of food distributors, including high-volume transactions, recurring billing, and ACH payments.
  • Present customized payment processing solutions that address client pain points and deliver measurable value.
  • Serve as an internal payments specialist partnering with our Customer Success team to cross sell payment solutions. 

Relationship Building:

  • Establish and nurture long-term relationships with clients and key industry stakeholders.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, ensuring their needs are consistently met and exceeded.

Sales Strategy & Goals:

  • Develop and execute a sales plan to meet or exceed revenue and client acquisition targets.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify new opportunities.

Collaboration & Support:

  • Work closely with internal teams (e.g., customer support, technical, and implementation teams) to ensure smooth onboarding and satisfaction for new clients.
  • Provide feedback to the product and marketing teams to improve offerings and campaigns.

Industry Expertise:

  • Stay informed about trends and regulations in payment processing and the food distribution industry.
  • Position the company as a leader in delivering cutting-edge solutions to the market.


What you will bring

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of sales experience in B2B payment processing, A/R software, or a related field.
  • Experience selling to food distributors, wholesalers, or the food supply chain industry is a strong advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Strong understanding of payment solutions, including credit card processing, ACH, ERP systems and accounts receivable solutions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple accounts and priorities.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Familiarity with CRM tools and sales tracking software.
  • Basic understanding of financial technology and B2B payment processing systems.
