Job description

The Business Analyst (BA) requires knowledge in both business and information technology. Most of this role requires the ability to be a liaison between IT and business leadership of the company/customer while enhancing the quality and execution of IT services provided by Planet. It is crucial to understand the business needs of the customer to bring value to the on-going project while helping to direct and support the delivery team execute the agreed upon services. The BA will accomplish this through research-gathering and data analysis, presenting a range of data-driven solutions, and thereafter implementing those solutions and optimizations using analytics tools and technologies.

The candidate needs to be skilled between basic admin and power user in Office 365. The candidate will build documentation including business requirement documents, user guides, onboarding instructions and other artifacts related to operating on O365 environment. They will be conducting interviews with the customer as well as attending workshops/meetings with Planet SMEs to prepare and update the required documentation for the project.

Responsibilities

Developing innovative solutions for operational and strategic changes, which is a business analyst’s primary role

Understand the business domain and specific problems that software is targeting and use an adaptive approach (learning, discovery, feedback loop) to decision making

May participate in presales calls and activities and will be required to use benchmarking to ensure accuracy of input. A predictive approach is preferred. (Planning and baselines established early to maximize control and minimize risk). May also participate in a SWOT analysis.

Gather and document functional and user experience requirements (stakeholder analysis – Identify and analyze stakeholders who may be impacted by the change and access their impact, participation, and needs throughout the business analysis activities)

Develop UI wireframes and functional workflows, as needed

Drive adoption and integration through well-planned on-boarding, integration, and knowledge transfer experience

Assist in expanding Planet’s portfolio to standardized offerings through the development and documentation of case studies, and playbooks that can be provided to prospects

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of experience in supporting Information Technology projects.

A Master’s/MBA degree is preferred for higher level positions, or a combination of education and experience required to meet the minimum requirement.

Experience with wireframe and process flow development

Experience writing basic SQL queries preferred

Experience with automated UI testing and browser tools preferred

Experience leading QA/UAT with large test groups.

Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (O365) to manage projects and communicate with stakeholders.

Professional License and Certification

Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) Certification preferred

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Fundamentals and Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals preferred, or the ability to pass the certification test within the first 6 months of employment.

MS-900, Microsoft 365 Fundamentals and/or MS-102 preferred not required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The ability to analyze data models to deliver logical conclusions; visualizing data is required

Should have the knowledge to be proficient in inventing processes or systems needed to implement changes and have complex problem-solving skills

Should be able to produce a RACI matrix – Responsible, Accountable (approving the results), consulted (providing input) or informed of the completed item after it has been completed.

Should have a knowledge of SLM (Service Life-Cycle Management)

Knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resources Planning) to CRM (Customer Relationship Management)

Ability to thoughtfully develop epics, features, and user stories using Azure Boards

Professional with excellent communication skills, written and verbal.

Must have the ability to proactively respond to internal/external questions and collaborate across internal/external teams.

Technical Abilities

Must be able to support the collection and analysis of data for a business or organization, providing better solutions, technology integration or systems improvements.

Should be familiar with the following BA tools

Azure DevOps

Jira

SQL Queries

Visio

Microsoft Excel and Word

Should be able to use these tools for business analytics to take a deeper dive and help to identify weaknesses, alert policy makers to unanticipated events, fixing potential problems, and even forecasting future performances.
