Job Description Summary

Job Description:

The Lead Clinical (EHR) Applications Analyst will support and manage clinical information systems that currently include eClinicalWorks, Athena Practice Management, Open Dental, X-ray Vision, Novo, etc. Performs in-depth analysis of programs, workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with health information technology (HIT) and multidisciplinary functions in outpatient care settings. Collaborates with team members to assist in design, validation, and problem resolution related to HIT systems. Serves as a liaison between business leaders and the IT department.

Responsibilities

  • The Lead Clinical (EHR) Applications Support Analyst will support end users with the EHR application (eClinicalWorks) and companion products
  • Assist in leading a team of IT application analysts that include the review, design, development, optimization and implementation of workflows and applications that support the organizational needs.
  • Serves as a liaison between executive leadership, clinical chiefs, end users, and I.T.
  • Drives EHR implementations, upgrades and integrations across the agency and with outside partners.
  • Ensures that our systems support clinical end user needs as well as organizational goals.
  • Develops and implements solutions for improved patient care and end user efficiency
  • Effectively communicates identified workflow and HIT system problems.
  • Develops solutions and ensures that solutions are configured correctly
  • Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement and innovation and offers/creates viable recommendations/options
  • Leads the testing, implementation, and maintenance of clinical applications and systems
  • Participates in training opportunities and works with IT application analysts on a regular basis
  • Troubleshoots problems and questions from end users and from the IT applications team
  • Maintains a broad technical knowledge of IT clinical software and hardware.
  • Maintains the ability to be technically conversant at all levels of problem solving through reading, briefings, seminars and classes
  • Participates in preparation and readiness for regulatory surveys and organizational certifications/awards as it relates to clinical documentation
  • Participates, as needed, in clinical decision support, emergency preparedness, and organizational change initiatives
  • Provides new and up-to-date knowledge database information and follows documented standards for additions/modifications/changes
  • Participates in the development of Policies and Procedures for area(s) of responsibility
  • Effectively demonstrates the mission, vision and values of CHCI and demonstrate the standards of performance (teamwork, communication, compassion, ownership) on a daily basis.

Position Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare field, education or informatics. Master’s Degree in Informatics preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a clinical setting working directly with clinical information systems “ EMR, EHR, PM”
  • Proficiency in eClinicalWorks support to include: basic workflow support, testing, troubleshooting, analysis, and first through third-level support functions
  • Proven track record of academic and professional success.
  • Project management skills preferred
  • Demonstrates Good oral, written and graphical communication skills using collaborative tools with attention to detail
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, previous training and or related certification
  • Ability to think critically and effectively apply problem-solving techniques
  • Experience with testing related to upgrades, patches to EMR, EXE, plugin, and companion products

Knowledge

  • Demonstrated experience with Electronic Health Record systems
  • Experience with testing related to upgrades, patches to EMR, EXE, plugin, and companion products
  • Strong communication and diplomacy skills. Must have the ability to build positive working relationships with providers, clinical support staff, practice managers and operational staff
  • Strong analytical and decision making skills with the ability to probe for information about underlying needs of the organization and user community
  • Thorough understanding of interoperability concepts, including messaging standards (HL7, FHIR, etc.)
  • Willingness to address issues and take ownership, knowing when and how to escalate issues
  • Organized and effective in multi-tasking with strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of healthcare delivery, clinical practice, and healthcare operational support

Work Conditions

  • 40-hour work week with on-call availability and able to travel
  • Occasional night/ weekend availability for upgrades, etc.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Sufficient dexterity of hands and fingers to efficiently operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and other computer components.
