Description

The successful candidate for the IT System Engineer role will play a crucial role in developing solutions that enhance system reliability and automation. This individual will partner with customers to architect mission-critical business functionalities, focusing on the utilization of APIs and serverless microservices. Applicants should bring proven experience in the development and management of distributed systems, as well as in the automated provisioning and management of AWS infrastructure and services. The Cloud Architect will guide teams in analyzing business requirements to align with the technology architecture, deliver client solutions of the highest quality, and effectively communicate progress to client teams. The role demands that the candidate demonstrates in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge. Please note this role is primarily remote, it requires on-site presence a couple times a year in Washington, D.C.


Requirements
  • 6+ years of progressive IT experience, including 2 years within federal IT Cloud modernization projects specifically on AWS.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, or substitute eight years of related experience.
  • AWS Certification(s) such as Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Pro, SysOps Admin, Developer Associate, preferred but not required.
  • Experience developing and deploying secure cloud-based systems on AWS.
  • Experience implementing security best practices in the development and deployment of cloud-based systems.
  • Experience collaborating with development teams to design and implement new features and functionalities.
  • Experience performing code, database and system reviews.
  • Experience assessing code, security and system test results and implementing mitigation or resolutions to enhance the stability, security or reliability of the applications.
  • Experience developing technical requirements based on business needs and using Cloud technologies to meet those requirements

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Possesses excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts
  • Demonstrates mastery of cloud architecture and implementation features, including multi-tenancy, orchestration, elastic scalability, serverless designs, networking, security, and fiscal accountability.
  • Worked on extensive projects to migrate from legacy systems to deploy complex cloud-based solutions.
  • Developed architectural artifacts to lead the delivery of successful implementations, and architecture of cloud-native, hybrid, or multi-cloud solutions to meet client needs.
  • Has designed, reviewed, and implemented DevOps and Agile standards and practices with a high level of experience.
  • Exhibits working knowledge of DevSecOps tool chains and processes. Has the ability to identify areas of improvement in configuration management and orchestration; work proactively to fix and explore new alternatives.
  • Automated the software development, testing, and deployment lifecycle with continuous integration and continuous deployment practices.
  • Has assisted in the design and building of large-scale, high-performing, and secure Kubernetes and other application platform infrastructures on AWS, utilizing tools like Jira, Git, Artifactory, and others.
