JOB SUMMARY:
As the leader of the Admissions Department, the Director of Admissions (DOA) motivates, trains, and coaches admissions personnel on expected behaviors aligned with a focus on the mission and Core Values. The director of admissions also has primary responsibilities for admissions oversight, compliant admissions processes, and quality service delivery to students resulting in successful outcomes. In addition, this position provides prospective students with information about the campus as they inquire about educational opportunities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
▪ Conducts both front-line admissions activity and is responsible for the leadership of the Admissions Department
▪ Make inbound and outbound telephone calls, set prospective student campus visits, conduct campus tours, and facilitate registrations
▪ Ensure that the admissions department operates in a manner that is fully compliant with all applicable regulatory guidelines and meets applicable Codes of Conduct
▪ Demonstrate effective assessment of the admissions staff’s technical skill set and deliver admissions training to effect improvement
▪ Lead regular briefing sessions with department personnel, review activities, and expectations
▪ Establish work schedules for the department, ensuring appropriate staffing to meet our customers’ needs
▪ Instrumental in providing an effective transition between the admissions process and the academic experience
▪ Provide departmental activity, through reports, dialogues, and meetings to Campus Leadership
▪ Deliver personnel evaluations and assessments, identifying each teammate’s behavioral contribution to the team’s efforts
▪ Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
▪ Associate’s degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or at least 2 years of admissions and management experience.
▪ A minimum of 2 years of customer service and/or management experience with preference given to those with direct educational admissions experience.
▪ Demonstration of highest levels of integrity and professionalism in all aspects, including appearance, demeanor, and attitude
▪ Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to develop, motivate, and lead staff ▪ Capability to prioritize, accept responsibility, and work within deadlines
▪ Ability to lead and work in an observation/coaching style environment
▪ Creativity and ability to work independently
▪ Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated success in collaborating with diverse groups of employees and customers
▪ Strong computer software skills including Microsoft Office
▪ Must have records of integrity that would ensure compliance with accrediting standards and applicable federal, state, and local requirements
PREFERRED:
▪ Bachelor’s degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
▪ Experience with CampusVue and/or Velocify software
TYPICAL WORK HOURS:
Directors of Admissions are expected to be available during campus hours, which are typically 7:00 am to 11:00 pm Monday through Friday, and occasional weekends. The DOA will be assigned a cell phone and laptop and will be expected to be available for consultation after hours, weekends, and holidays. This position is not eligible for overtime pay.
