Job Title: Associate Attorney – Workers’ Compensation
Type of Position: Full Time
Location: Denver, Colorado – Fully Remote or Hybrid!
Pay: $100K/year – $200/year

Job Description:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Answer and screen potential new calls (as a back-up only) and sign-up utilizing firm established criteria.
  • Meet potential new clients and approve representation of cases, documenting Attorney contact.
  • Review HO Evidence packets and return to the Legal Assistant within 24 hours.
  • Timely prepare hearing memos.
  • Prepare and argue Hearing Officer (HO) Hearings and Appeals Officer (AO)
  • Hearings for the assigned Legal Assistant(s).
  • Prepare and submit all appropriate documents for Appeal Officer (AO) Hearings.
  • Prepare clients for testifying.
  • Approve filing of petitions for Judicial Reviews.
  • Prepare the Petition or Response on Judicial Reviews.
  • Review and approve resignations.
  • Supervise Legal Assistants and provide legal guidance regarding handling claims, including but not limited to claimants’ reopening rights, future treatment, benefits, etc.
  • Maintain the firm’s system with all information on a daily basis.
  • Maintain all licenses in good standing by fulfilling all requirements.
  • Work with Managing Partner on marketing issues, growing the business and practice area trends.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Manages Legal Assistant(s) in the Workers’ Compensation department as it relates to legal guidance.
  • Training employees.
  • Working with Senior Legal Assistant to assign and direct work.
  • Provide input on employee performance
  • Reporting disciplinary issues.
  • Address complaints and resolving problems.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years as an Attorney in Workers’ Comp in the state of Colorado required
  • Admitted to the Colorado bar
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
  • Communications skills able to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Innovative writing techniques or style for writing speeches and articles.
  • Understanding of mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  
  • Knowledge on how to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Capacity to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
