The Merchandise Planner partners with the Boutiques, CMO and Buyers, VP of Merchandise Planning and Allocations and Allocators to drive sales, profitability and returns on inventory by developing strategies at the product category/location level. Merchandise Planners plan and forecast the allocation of merchandise and plan and reserve inventory for new stores. Merchandise Planners also develop in-season forecasts and future merchandise plans for their departments by class.

This position will be based in Houston, TX or Columbus, OH. 

What you’ll do:

  • Provides in-season performance (liability and opportunity) inventory analysis to maximize department success.
  • Develop optimized assortment plans down to the attributes related to the class to the style choice level by store volume groups.
  • Prepares, forecasts and maintains OTB for a portion of the department responsibility.
  • Helps prepare weekly reporting, ad-hoc analysis, markdown analysis and documentation and pre-season reviews.
  • Attends vendor meetings (upon request), bi-monthly “state-of-business” meetings.
  • Run reporting on bestsellers/worst sellers to determine reorders, transfers and markdowns.
  • Analyze promotional events, influence development of promotional calendar.
  • Ensure ordering for new boutiques delivers appropriate merchandise levels.
  • Be the point of contact for boutique questions regarding merchandise matters.
  • Analyze aged inventory as well as risk in inventory for potential marking down of merchandise.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study or equivalent years of related work experience required.
  • At least 2 years as merchandise inventory management, demand planning, assortment management, allocator, buying or financial related work experience required.
  • Strategic Planning skills with the ability to makes decisions with limited information but also able to utilize large quantities of data to drive business decisions.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Prioritization, Organization, and Problem-Solving skills.
  • Builds collaborative partnerships cross-functionally
  • Adapts to schedule changes and work-related re-prioritization well.
  • Strong systems skills with experience in a planning software, allocation software, data warehouse system, purchase order management system, and Excel required.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of forecasting methodology and understanding of retail math.
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit.
