Senior Tanium Security Engineer

Job Title: Senior Tanium Security Engineer 

Department: Operations – Services 

Reports To: RavenTek Program Manager

Location: Remote

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Hours: Full-time, 40-hours/week

FLSA Status: Exempt

Clearance: Secret with ability to obtain Top Secret

Position Summary

The primary responsibility of the Tanium Engineer is to provide security solutions for our customers. The Engineer will also be involved in providing training to both internal and external resources. They will work to keep the RavenTek lab components operational and ready to be demonstrated to customers. The Engineer will work with the RavenTek sales teams to provide engineering resources as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage customer Tanium environment(s) 
• Configuration and troubleshooting 
• Provide support for internal and external customers in an enterprise environment 
• Troubleshoot a range of IT security and connectivity issues 
• Support other team members in troubleshooting and project efforts 
• Ensure customers receive top of the line support in a polite and courteous manner
• Enter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period
• Monitor RavenTek email on a regular basis, at least 3 times per week, and respond accordingly
• Complete required compliance training as assigned
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Critical Skills

• Strong communication skills 
• Ability to collaborate and work efficiently and in a remote environment 
• Strong interpersonal skills to advise on best practices while balancing the customer expectation on mission outcomes
• Must have both experience and high level of comfort working in an agile environment
• Network/security engineering experience, including cyber security experience supporting end-user devices 
• Solid networking experience 
• Troubleshooting complex issues involving multiple devices with the devices themselves and connectivity running through them using both GUI and command-line tools 

Education & Work Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 4 years of experience, or 6 years of related experience in lieu of degree 
• Advanced knowledge of protocols such as HTTP, SMTP, FTP, DNS, etc.  
• Experience with TCP/IP and IP subnetting 
• Working knowledge of networking and security products and enterprise network infrastructure 
• Familiarity with Network Protocol Analyzers (tcpdump, Wireshark) and network security (SSL/TLS, VPNs, Firewall, IDS/IPS) 
• Authentication systems such as LDAP, MS AD, etc.  
• VPN technologies such as IPSec and VPN clients 
• Scripting knowledge (vbscript, Python, PowerShell) 

Certifications, Licenses

• Tanium Certified Operator
• Tanium Certified Administrator preferred

Special Requirements

• Top Secret clearance preferred, however Secret clearance with the ability to upgrade to a Top Secret clearance is required.

Work Environment

When working on-site, employees will be working indoors in an office environment with other people. Potential moderate temperature fluctuations. Typical indoor and computer related noise level, and typical office, paper, and equipment related dust. Exposure to video display terminals occurs regularly.  

Physical Demands

Employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; see, talk and hear. Most positions require ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
