The Role:
The Placement Director is responsible for connecting students with career opportunities and providing the resources, guidance, and support they need to transition into the workforce successfully. This role emphasizes building and maintaining relationships with employers, coordinating placements, and supporting students throughout the process to ensure a seamless and enriching experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Employer Outreach
Develop and maintain partnerships with employers to identify job openings, internships, and externship opportunities.
Organize employer presentations, career fairs, and networking events to connect students with hiring organizations.
Negotiate terms of placements with employers, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and student career objectives.
2. Student Support and Career Guidance
Conduct pre-placement orientation sessions to prepare students for professional conduct, workplace expectations, and effective communication.
Provide individualized career coaching, including resume reviews, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
Monitor student progress and satisfaction through regular communication with both students and employers, addressing challenges as they arise.
3. Program Administration
Maintain accurate records of student placements, evaluations, and employer feedback.
Generate reports to assess the effectiveness of placement programs and identify areas for improvement.
Organize logistics for placement-related events, including onboarding and post-placement reviews.
4. Student Matching and Placement
Assess student skills, career aspirations, and interests to facilitate appropriate placements.
Manage and update a comprehensive database of job, internship, and externship opportunities.
Coordinate all placement details between students and employers, including schedules, expectations, and required documentation.
5. Strategic Externship Development
Expand externship opportunities through targeted outreach to employers across various industries.
Ensure externship sites meet program standards by conducting evaluations and negotiating program terms.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to align externship experiences with educational goals and learning outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with students, employers, and internal stakeholders.
-Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
-Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail in maintaining records and program operations.
-Knowledge of career development practices, job search strategies, and workforce trends.
-Familiarity with relevant industries and opportunities for student placements.
-Experience in higher education, career services, or workforce development is preferred.
-Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that supports a diverse student population.
