About the role

The Senior Underwriter position presents an outstanding opportunity for an experienced professional to deepen their expertise in a dynamic and progressive organization. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in driving profitability, growth, service excellence, and strong producer relationships, with a focus on Casualty products across Australia. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker ready to shape the future of our Casualty portfolio and contribute to our market leadership.

Roles & Responsibilities (include by not limited to)

  • Serve as a senior technical underwriter, leveraging your expertise in Casualty products to assess risks, make informed underwriting decisions, and align with our strategic goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with major customers and brokers, fostering trust and delivering tailored solutions that meet and exceed their needs.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders to drive the growth of the Pacific Region Liability portfolio.
  • Contribute to the innovation and enhancement of underwriting processes and strategies, ensuring our products remain competitive and relevant.
  • Act as a mentor and collaborator, sharing knowledge and experience with junior team members to build a cohesive and high-performing underwriting team.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal policies, external regulatory requirements, and risk management practices.
  • Participate in calls or work outside of standard hours when necessary to support cross-regional operations.
  • Perform any other duties as required to support the business objectives.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  •  Casualty Underwriting Expertise: Significant experience in Casualty underwriting with strong technical knowledge of the Australian Casualty market.
  • Market and Product Knowledge: Awareness of industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments.
  • Relationship Management: Proven ability to build and sustain positive, collaborative relationships with brokers, clients, and internal teams.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to identify opportunities and challenges through comprehensive market analysis.
  • Leadership and Development: Skilled in mentoring and developing team members, fostering an inclusive and collaborative team culture.
  • Negotiation and Influence: Strong negotiation skills to secure advantageous terms and outcomes.
