Job description

Title:  Center Manager – Shoreline (Social Services Manager at Hopelink's Shoreline Service Center)

Location:  Shoreline, WA

Work schedule: Full time, 40 hours per week, mostly in-person/onsite with occasional remote work from home opportunities on Fridays

The career opportunity: 

The Center Manager is responsible for the general oversight of the Shoreline Service Center. Directly supervises the Center staff, including financial assistance specialists and front desk client resource specialists; works closely with all programs to coordinate Center operations and ensures quality services to the community, with a key focus of implementing financial assistance program and food program enrollments.  The ideal candidate works well in a high paced environment, can problem solve, multi-task and is a flexible team player.  This position requires the ability to stay calm under pressure and deescalate situations when necessary.  Must be able to engage in a compassionate manner with individuals who demonstrate unpredictable behavior related to various kinds or crisis or trauma including substance abuse, mental health disorders, and/or homelessness.

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, work experience, and/or military service. 
  • 2 – 3 years or more of previous supervisory experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge level of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and Outlook, as well as database experience.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and Hopelink’s mission.
  • Skilled in de-escalation techniques and able to stay calm under pressure.
  • Three years’ experience in managing a multi-purpose facility or program related to community services, preferred.
  • Experience with a trauma-informed approach to service, preferred (training provided.)
  • Multi-lingual candidates (especially Spanish/English, Russian/English, Chinese/English) are encouraged to apply.

 

Examples of what you will be doing:

  • Oversee the general operation of the service center; ensure cross departmental communication and collaboration between diverse teams.
  • Work to prevent the escalation of issues and de-escalates conflict when necessary; create a safe and effective environment for staff, clients and volunteers.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, assign and direct the work of center staff, including financial assistance program development and food program enrollment processes; provide training as needed; prioritize activities, establishes performance objectives. Support staff providing direct services as needed.
  • Maintain financial performance within the budget, navigating a number of grants for financial assistance and ensuring spending according to grant specifications.
  • Represent the department and the agency before various community groups, local officials, funding sources and private businesses; serves on community task forces, committees and the like; assess the present and future needs of the community; identify and secure community resources.

  • Compensation: $30.30/hour
  • Up to 10 paid vacation and sick days annually and 10 paid holidays,
