Job description

Job Title: Data Specialist

Job Overview:
Rainmakers Strategic Solutions, a fast-growing woman-owned small business, provides management consulting services for federal government clients.  Many of Rainmakers’ contracts support federal health care programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.  A significant number of our contracts involve updating publicly available documents for digital and print publication in response to changes in policies and healthcare benefits.  We pride ourselves in upholding high standards for delivering quality products and services under aggressive timelines.

The Data Specialist is responsible for reviewing and updating public-healthcare-related assessments, manuals, and guides developed for healthcare providers, implementing changes that healthcare providers and other stakeholders have requested to remove or revise outdated content. To succeed in this position, the Data Specialist must apply a command of English and Plain Language Act principles and document formatting skills to ensure that, following these changes, all impacted materials are clear, current, and accurate. The successful candidate will be fully proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel, and possess strong analytical skills that enable them to evaluate whether a requested change in one area of a particular document drives additional changes elsewhere in the document or among other impacted documents.

Job Duties:
    • Review and research changes as proposed by healthcare providers and other stakeholders as identified during internal and external review cycles.
    • Estimate the level of effort required to implement requested changes and propose updates to associated deliverable schedules based on the impacts.
    • Participate in content management activities to identify all documents and sections requiring updates as a result of proposed changes.
    • As part of the evaluation of changes, develop questions for MDS subject matter experts (SMEs) and clients to consider prior to implementing changes.
    • Review and analyze proposed changes and draft edits (e.g., text changes in Word documents, edits in Excel files and Google Docs) to other affected documents as needed to ensure consistency across all documents.
    • Evaluate, maintain, and, based on analyses, recommend changes to the Excel Minimum Data Set (MDS) Item Matrix and associated documents.
    • Coordinate internal and external review and revision process for MDS Item Matrix and internal revision process for MDS item sets.
    • Conduct document reviews and provide input for MDS-related documents as requested, regardless of source.
    • Assist in developing training materials and other training-related tasks.
    • Assist MDS SMEs in working with client representatives and other client contractors to ensure delivery of training content and related materials.
    • Collaborate with all team members, including the client and other contractors as appropriate, to answer questions from stakeholders.
    • Assist in client Help Desk activities.
    • Perform Help Desk administration and support as appropriate, including tracking, triaging, and drafting responses to help desk questions received by the client.
    • Facilitate reviews where Help Desk inquiries (or other sources) require coordination.
    • Perform administrative and other tasks as needed to coordinate and collaborate.
    • Participate in daily team meetings, routine and ad hoc team, client and stakeholder meetings/calls as required (prepare documents, report out in meetings, etc.).
    • Contribute to biweekly/weekly status and monthly progress reports.
    • Provide peer reviews of MDS deliverables.
    • Follow, and draft or redraft as needed, workflow life cycle processes.
    • Ensure quality, error-free products.
    • Proofread for spelling, grammar, clarity, Plain Language, and compliance with style guide.
    • Ensure that all published documents are properly formatted.
    • Review, edit, and provide input on documents developed by other team members.
