The role

We are looking to hire a Senior Financial Accountant to join Plum and be based in Cyprus. In this role you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, supporting compliance with local regulations, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organisation. This role requires a deep understanding of both IFRS and UK GAAP accounting principles, tax regulations, and familiarity with the unique aspects of the local financial landscape.

Ideally You Will:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in compliance with both IFRS and UK GAAP accounting principles.
• Record and classify financial transactions, ensuring adherence to local accounting principles.
• Stay abreast of changes in Cyprus tax laws and regulations.
• Assist in the preparation and submission of tax returns, ensuring compliance with local tax requirements.
• Contribute to the preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS accounting principles.
• Generate financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with local reporting requirements.
• Monitor and manage VAT processes, including the preparation and submission of VAT returns.
• Ensure compliance with Cyprus VAT regulations.
• Review and process expense reports in accordance with company policies and local regulations.
• Assist in the coordination of internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Ensure compliance with audit requirements and recommendations.
• Collaborate with local and international teams to gather financial information and support decision-making processes.
• Liaise with local regulatory bodies and financial institutions as necessary.

Ideally You:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
• 5+ years of experience in financial accounting, preferably in a fintech or technology-driven environment in Cyprus.
• In-depth knowledge of Cyprus accounting standards, tax regulations, and VAT requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
