Summary of Job Duties:
The HIM Systems Analyst –Medical Record Integrity ensures the accuracy and integrity of the final UAMS medical record through review, management and support of Epic and other electronic health record (EHR) systems and processes. This position will work in conjunction with patients, UAMS Leadership, Information Technology (IT), Physicians, and other clinical end users to manage the electronic health record amendment requests and chart correction processes in accordance with regulatory guidelines and hospital policy; maintains UAMS’s Master Patient Index (MPI) and ensures records meet minimum documentation requirements in compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards; manages projects and initiatives related to the EHR and HIM systems and processes; may require certification in Epic HIM modules or other HIM systems certifications after training is provided; may serve as HIM Chapter Champion and regulatory expert responsible for ensuring compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards; may rotate 24x7 on-call responsibilities to provide systems support.

- Ensures the accuracy and integrity of the final UAMS legal medical record through review, management and support of Epic and other EHR systems and processes; develops and maintains in-depth understanding of all UAMS clinical systems and how each interacts with the UAMS legal medical record; coordinates project management of HIM quality improvement and EHR related projects serving as HIM liaison between Epic and other clinical system end users; provides end user support for all HIM system users including physicians, clinical, and administrative staff; maintains Epic and other system certifications when required; rotates 24x7 on-call.
- Manages the electronic health record amendment request and chart correction processes in accordance with regulatory guidelines and hospital policy; works with patients, clinicians, IT, physician and clinical leadership in conjunction with the HIPAA office to resolve electronic health record amendment requests according to timeline and requirements of HIPAA regulations; coordinates amendment requests and health record corrections across all clinical systems and the legal medical record; provides end-user support for physicians and other Epic and clinical system users related to record amendment requests and chart corrections; participates in Chart Correction Workgroup and other workgroups as needed.
- Maintains accurate and complete UAMS MPI; ensures duplicate medical records and MPI discrepancies are resolved within Epic and across all clinical systems; regularly reviews and resolves Patient Overlays; provides reports and feedback to management related to registration errors that result in duplicate medical records; provides guidance related to MPI activities with the UAMS Data Warehouse Project Team; maintains Epic Identity Certification when required.
- Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed. Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary. Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines. Assist internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service.
