Junior Cyber Security Engineer

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Cybersecurity Engineer to join our clients growing IT team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in protecting our organization's valuable assets by identifying, assessing, and mitigating cyber threats. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging projects, learn from experienced security professionals, and contribute to a strong security posture.

Responsibilities:

• Threat Monitoring & Response:
  • Monitor security systems (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls) for suspicious activity.
  • Analyze security alerts and incidents, investigate root cause, and assist in implementing response actions.
  • Conduct basic threat hunting activities under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Security Operations:
  • Assist in the administration and maintenance of security tools and technologies, including:
    • Endpoint Security: SentinelOne
    • Network Security: Switches, Firewalls
    • Virtualization: VMs
    • Vulnerability Management: InsightVM, AlienVault
    • Email Security: Mimecast (Data Loss Prevention, Data Protection)
    • Microsoft 365 Security: Data Loss Prevention, Data Protection
  • Participate in security assessments and penetration testing activities.
  • Assist with the implementation and enforcement of security policies and procedures.
• Security Analysis:
  • Conduct basic security assessments and vulnerability scans.
  • Assist in the analysis of security risks and the development of mitigation strategies.
• Professional Development:
  • Actively participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance cybersecurity skills.
  • Stay updated on emerging security threats and technologies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 1-3 years of experience in a cybersecurity role or a related IT field.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
• Experience with or strong interest in the following technologies:
  • Endpoint Security: SentinelOne (preferred) or similar tools
  • Network Security: Switches, Firewalls
  • Virtualization: VMs
  • Vulnerability Management: InsightVM, AlienVault (preferred) or similar tools
  • Email Security: Mimecast (preferred) or similar tools
  • Microsoft 365 Security: Data Loss Prevention, Data Protection
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
