Job Purpose Summary

We are seeking a Regional Sales Manager, Ophthalmology, Chennai with an entrepreneurial spirit who excels in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment to join our team.

What You Will Do

Sales Turnover:

  • Drive and achieve annual sales revenue targets for the region (monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals)
  • Map the market potential within key ophthalmic surgery accounts
  • Forecast monthly sales to ensure on-time product availability with distributors
  • Oversee account receivables for all distributors
  • Manage and grow direct accounts
  • Promote and sell Corza Ophthalmology products across diverse market segments within the designated territory
  • Provide weekly and monthly action plans to the manager, outlining necessary activities for each account to meet sales goals.
  • Lead complex deal negotiations and close sales in key accounts
  • Take the lead in organizing trade displays and conferences when necessary

Territory Management:

  • Conduct a SWOT analysis for the designated territory.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to meet sales targets.
  • Establish realistic and achievable sales objectives by account, product group, and time (monthly, quarterly, annual)
  • Deeply understand customer needs to identify and act on sales opportunities.
  • Manage tender processes for state and central government institutions
  • Pursue and secure contract opportunities actively
  • Ensure market share is maintained or expanded within the region, according to plans
  • Strategically address and grow challenging territories and convert difficult accounts
  • Identify opportunities for expansion into new market segments
  • Collaborate on the development of promotional materials for sales calls.
  • Understand internal resources, priorities, and needs to ensure business operations align with sales targets.
  • Demonstrate expert selling skills and provide guidance to the team, continuously improving the sales process.

Customer Relationships & Education:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers at all levels.
  • Identify and develop key opinion leaders within the region and engage with them through targeted plans.
  • Drive the adoption of new procedures within the region by implementing relevant training initiatives.
  • Proactively identify and address professional education needs to enhance customer awareness and knowledge.

Product and Market Knowledge:

  • Maintain expert knowledge of Corza products, including features, benefits, correct application, and usage, as well as relevant medical procedures.
  • Stay informed about competitor activities, structure, capabilities, and weaknesses.
  • Analyze market trends and recommend strategies to capitalize on opportunities and address potential threats.
  • Share competitive insights and strategies for countering competitors with colleagues.
  • Understand customer support for competitor products and develop plans to differentiate Corza offerings to influence customer preferences.

Distributor Management:

  • Identify and appoint new distributors for Corza Ophthalmology products in the region.
  • Focus on securing dedicated distributors to access key eye institutes and government hospitals.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence in distributor selection and manage contracts, accounts receivables, quarterly performance reviews, distributor training, marketing support, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure smooth communication between distributors and internal teams (AR/RA/Logistics) to address issues promptly and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Build and sustain long-term relationships with distributors, sub-distributors, hospital administrations, and government bodies.
  • Work closely with customers to understand their business needs and objectives.
  • Analyze product usage with distributors and encourage the sale of new product codes to drive growth and capture market share.
  • Conduct pricing analysis and competitive benchmarking to capture and expand market share.

Marketing:

  • Align with global marketing teams to implement marketing initiatives, including digital strategies and new product launches.
  • Share market data and competitive insights with global marketing teams as needed.
  • Participate in local workshops and conferences, including booth setup and coordination with global marketing.
  • Contribute new and innovative ideas to accelerate growth through acquisitions and product changes.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s degree / science graduate preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience, in medical, preferably ophthalmology, instrument sales.

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

  • up to 50% travel domestically within territory (depending on candidate’s location within region), including some overnights.
  • Proficient with CRM platform (Salesforce.com)
  • Highly organized and has very effective time management skills.
  • Highly customer focused.
  • Operating room sales/medical device experience is preferred.
  • Excellent selling and presentation skills.
  • Proven track record of top sales performance, sales awards.
  • Strong negotiating skills and capacity.
  • Must be able to analyze financial information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including strong listening skills.
  • Working knowledge of Windows, MS Office, PowerPoint as well as networks and internet applications.
  • Must live within assigned territory.
  • This role requires meeting the hospital credentialing requirements.
