Purpose

Risk and Compliance Analyst plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the integrity and ethical operation of our organization. This position not only supports the Corporate Compliance Program but also ensures our adherence to critical regulations, including Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act. By integrating these regulations into our compliance framework, this roll will contribute to shaping the organization's risk management practices. Working closely with leadership and cross-functional teams, the Risk and Compliance Analyst will drive continuous improvement in compliance initiatives, playing a key role in enhancing organizational transparency, reducing risk exposure, and upholding our commitment to healthcare excellence.

Education

  • BA/BS in a related field (Healthcare Administration, Law, Business, Compliance, or similar disciplines).
  • A Master’s degree, Juris Doctorate, or paralegal certification with relevant experience
  • Equivalent work experience in compliance, healthcare regulations, or a related field may substitute. Preference will be given to candidates with specialized coursework or certifications in healthcare compliance, risk management, or regulatory law.

Years of Experience in Related Field

  • Minimum of 5-7 years experience in healthcare compliance, regulatory compliance, or related field, ideally within the nonprofit sector. Experience with compliance audits, regulatory risk assessment, and implementing cross-departmental compliance processes is highly preferred.
  • Prior work experience in compliance or law preferred

Credentials or Certifications

  • Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), or other relevant industry certifications are preferred. Candidates with advanced certification or demonstrated expertise in healthcare regulations will be prioritized.

  • Knowledge of Regulations: In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal healthcare regulations, including Section 1557 and HIPAA, as well as the ability to research and apply new and emerging regulatory standards.

  • Writing and Revision: Superior writing and editing skills, with the ability to draft, revise, and refine complex policy and training materials. Ensure clarity, consistency, and accessibility across all documents, tailoring content for diverse audiences, from leadership to operational staff.
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project), with demonstrated experience leveraging these tools for data analysis, reporting, project management, and compliance tracking. Familiarity with compliance software and tools (e.g., Navex) is highly desirable
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Expert problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify, diagnose, and resolve complex regulatory and compliance challenges. Proven experience in developing innovative solutions in a fast-paced and evolving regulatory environment.

Job Duties

  • Serve as a critical input to the Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) Committee , which is composed of the Sr. Director of Contracts Administration and acting Compliance Officer, the Privacy Officer and Vice President, IT Operations (Security Officer). As a key contributor to the GRC’s work, which includes leadership from these senior roles, this position will align organizational policies with evolving federal, state, and healthcare regulations. Lead cross-functional initiatives to strengthen our compliance framework and mitigate organizational risk.
  • Collaborate to set goals, design metrics for success, and create proactive solutions to regulatory challenges.
  • Lead the analysis and preparation of responses for Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and contract agreements for compliance, ensuring alignment with general terms and conditions, risk management, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide strategic insights and recommendations, contributing to the successful acquisition of contracts while mitigating compliance risks.
  • Oversee and enhance key compliance functions, including the development of engaging outreach and educational materials to promote compliance across the organization. Manage the review, tracking, and reporting of compliance training, attestations, and other critical deliverables. Conduct comprehensive compliance audits, including contract audits and ‘floor audits,’ to ensure adherence to regulatory and internal standards.
  • Conduct thorough research and monitoring of current and proposed Federal, state, and local legislation that may impact the organization. Proactively analyze potential regulatory risks and compliance needs, providing timely guidance and actionable insights to leadership and relevant teams to ensure the organization remains compliant with evolving regulations.
  • Ensure ongoing business compliance by maintaining current state registrations, SAM.gov registrations, and all necessary business licenses across county, city and state levels. Regularly review and update registrations to meet jurisdictional requirements, minimizing risk of non-compliance and supporting smooth operational continuity
  • Manage the organization’s conflict of interest disclosure processes, ensuring timely identification and resolution of both personal and organizational conflicts. Develop and implement robust mitigation strategies to safeguard compliance and promote ethical decision-making across all levels of the organization.
  • Partner with leadership to define, implement, and continuously refine compliance processes that span multiple departments. Lead cross-functional teams in monitoring these processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements while driving a culture of compliance.
  • Play a key role in executing regular compliance audits, ensuring thorough documentation for both internal reviews and regulatory reporting. Collaborate with relevant teams to address audit findings and implement corrective actions that improve the organization’s compliance posture
  • Develop, review, and update corporate compliance related policies and procedures to ensure they are aligned with current regulations and best practices. Facilitate the dissemination of these policies across the organization to promote awareness and adherence.
  • Investigation and reporting of contracts compliance incidents, ensuring timely resolution and implementation of corrective actions. Maintain thorough documentation of incidents and resolutions for audit and regulatory purposes.
  • Serve as the primary Section 1557 Coordinator, ensuring Comagine Health’s compliance with Section 1557 requirements across all health programs and activities. Lead investigations into grievances related to noncompliance, develop actionable solutions, and coordinate organizational responses to ensure alignment with federal regulations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates training of relevant employees as set forth in

    • 92.9, including maintaining documentation required by such section.

    Salary Range (based in part of candidate location as this is a fully remote position):

    $85,000 -$100,000.
