Accounting Manager

In this role, you will join a mission-driven, roll-up-your-sleeves team of innovators and builders who have come together to change the paradigm of professional volleyball and women’s sport.

The Role:

The Accounting Manager will manage day to day operational activities and month end close for the Pro League and all other LOVB legal entities. The Manager will provide support to the accounting team, document processes and provide accounting guidance, as well as work with the Controller on various accounting projects.

This person will manage one direct report, a Senior Accountant and report to the Controller of the Pro League.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversight of Daily Operations

  • Provide support to the Senior Accountant.
  • Partner with internal customers on various topics to ensure that operational growth is in alliance with the accounting standards, US GAAP.
  • Assist in reviewing and coding credit card and expense transactions processed through the credit card system RAMP.
  • Sign off on invoice coding in AP System Tipalti to ensure accuracy from the GL perspective.
  • Provide timely review on new partnership contracts, issue invoices in NetSuite and coordinate payments with partners.


Monthly Closing

  • Provide timely month-end closing of the GL and prepare all related reports, journal entries and reconciliations. LOVB has an 8-day month-end close.
  • Supervise senior accountant and help with all questions related to month-end close.
  • Collaborate closely with the Merchandise team on reviewing monthly inventory and monthly inventory sales and COGS reconciliations.
  • Partner with the Accounts Payable team to ensure accurate accruals across the board.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and workpapers.
  • Calculate monthly commissions for internal and external partners.


Innovation and Efficiency

  • Collaborate with other Accounting Managers and co-lead annual audits performed by external auditors.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to scale and automate manual procedures.
  • Assist management in completing special projects and analysis on an ad-hoc basis.


Continuous Improvement

  • Improve existing procedures and internal controls. Promote operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in various projects and analysis.


Requirements: Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Accounting Manager role.
  • Experience managing month-end close.
  • Inventory Management.
  • ASC 606.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP.


Desired skills:

  • Experience with e-commerce business.
  • Experience in sports industry.
  • Experience with NetSuite.

Location:

Flexibility to work anywhere in the US (primarily over Zoom and digital platforms) with the willingness to travel for site visits and other business-related destinations.

Compensation & Benefits:

The pay range listed reflects the pay range for this position. The annual base salary for this role is $90,000-110,000 annually, and our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based on geographic location, work experience, education and/or skill level, among other things.

Individual pay is adjusted as performance is demonstrated and sustained at increasingly competent levels over time. With approval, experienced employees with critical skills may be hired above this guideline.
