Job description

Introduction

The Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) Office currently has an opening for a Director of Apprenticeship and Construction! We’re a highly engaged, collaborative team of about 50 employees with an office located at the new Hill Farms State Office Building on Madison’s near west side. The WTCS Office is the administrative service agency of the WTCS Board, which is the coordinating and oversight body for Wisconsin’s 16 public, two-year technical colleges. This position offers the ability to work remotely nearly 100% of the time, however, the employee should be available to report to the headquarters location in Madison, WI sporadically as needed.

Position Summary

This position will provide statewide educational program leadership as a director in the Office of Instructional Services for the following program areas: Apprenticeship and Construction. Responsibilities include the initiation, development, approval, maintenance, supervision, and evaluation of assigned occupational programs; approval of course and curricula; planning and facilitation of meetings, including the coordination of professional development opportunities for college staff; assessment and support of stakeholder needs; collaboration with external partners; and other duties as assigned.

Salary Information

The classification of this position is Education Consultant which is in pay schedule/range 13-02. The starting pay for this position will be between $39.00 - $41.00 per hour based on qualifications. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan effective at the time of hire.

Job Details

WTCS does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.

A criminal background check will be performed on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment.

Possession of a valid driver's license including personal automobile insurance, or the ability to provide one’s own transportation for work purposes, is required.

Travel is required for up to 10% of these positions’ duties.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates will have each of the following:

  • Experience acting as a liaison to high level officials (college leaders, executive management teams, State agency leadership, industry advisory councils, state officials, etc.)
  • Experience leading, facilitating or coaching a team of skilled professionals
  • Experience designing or conducting professional development for diverse groups

In addition, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:

  • Experience working in or with one of the following fields or similar: 1) apprenticeship OR 2) skilled trades (construction, manufacturing, plumbing, electrical, utilities, etc.)
  • Experience working with post-secondary educational institutions
  • Experience performing analysis and evaluation of results and trends
