Job Summary
Systems Engineer III's are responsible for the planning, engineering, and compliance of the organization's systems infrastructure. They serve as a technical and team leader, proactively researching and introducing new technology and best practices and providing mentorship and guidance. Includes the implementation and design of hardware and software. Monitors and reports to the performance of systems. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. This multipurpose role will focus on reviewing documentation and strategy to ensure successful team engagement, advising technical engineers on current internal or external work. They serve as a technical leader and liaison between stakeholder teams and management and advise on current internal or external work, working with systems hardware and software to deliver solutions to client institutions. Systems Engineer III's are expected to proactively research current and new technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrates expertise in a variety of technologies.
- Strong knowledge of company solutions and service offerings.
- Researches, analyzes, and recommends strategy for the technical direction of engineering projects; oversees the planning, design, and project implementation.
- Provides systems architecture consultation to internal or external resources.
- Acts as a project leader for large or complex projects; defines the project plan and oversees support staff to ensure tasks are completed accurately and delivered on time; may act as a team leader as well.
- Prepares design for, analyzes, evaluates, tests, debugs, and implements changes supporting the company infrastructure business processes and operations and/or product systems.
- Serves as high-level escalation for triaging and resolving technical issues while providing mentorship and training to other engineers.
- Leads the development, testing, evaluation or design of system or infrastructure architecture used throughout the IT solution set.
- Installs, configures, upgrades, and enhances to software and hardware.
- Analyzes, installs, modifies, and supports a variety of operating systems, databases, and utility software.
- Develops content for and maintains technical documentation (site surveys, network diagrams, systems RUNBOOKS, knowledge base, etc.).
- Provides clear documentation of completed projects for the next engineer to enter the environment.
- Provides clear documentation of completed projects for various stakeholders.
- Participates in Systems team on-call rotation (as required).
- Expand education/technical stack/relevant high-level certifications.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Accredited university, college or trade school education and training in applicable technology, advanced degrees or equivalent relevant professional and technical experience. Advanced certifications a plus.
- Highly skilled position in described technology. Over seven (7) years of successful, extensive work experience in relevant technical fields.
- 3-5 years of CommVault Data Protection experience
- 3-5 years of Windows/Linux Server Management experience
- 3-5 years of patch and vulnerability management/remediation experience
- Azure/AWS Experience
- Infrastucture as Code Experience (Server Automation)
- IIS Admin Experience
- SQL Server Admin/Scripting Experience
- CI/CD deployment experience
- PCI/FBA/SOC 1 and 3 knowledge
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with target audience.
- Reasoning, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
- Collaboration and teamwork skills
- Advanced project management skills
- Customer service skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Travel: Minimal travel required
Physical Demands: The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear, and use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands or arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, lift or move up to 50 pounds, and travel by ground or vehicle. This position requires the basic need to look at a computer screen up to 8 hours a day. This position requires close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
