Job description

Job Title: Entrepreneurship Program Mentor / Instructor

Location: Remote (with potential travel as needed for in-person engagements)

Duration: Varies based on program (1 day to 6 weeks)

Contract Type: 1099 or W-2 (depending on the candidate)

Rate: $75 - $100/hour (dependent on experience and program length)

Scope Of Services

Our client is seeking mentors and/or instructors for entrepreneurship training programs designed for global innovators, with a focus on early-stage entrepreneurs, primarily in the science and technology sectors. These programs, ranging from 1 day to 6 weeks, aim to provide entrepreneurs with the knowledge, resources, and mentorship needed to build and scale startups. Programs are delivered in various formats, including in-person, virtual, and hybrid, and are designed to support entrepreneurs at different stages of development. Participants in these programs come from diverse backgrounds and regions, and programs may take place both in the United States and internationally.

The mentor / instructor role will vary depending on the specific program needs. Responsibilities will include guiding entrepreneurs through Lean Entrepreneurship methodology, conducting one-on-one and group mentoring sessions, and collaborating with the client’s team to develop and personalize educational content. The mentor/instructor will play a key role in providing entrepreneurial training, fostering growth, and supporting the development of innovative solutions across a wide range of industries and sectors.

Role Description & Qualifications

Mentors and instructors will work closely with entrepreneurs, guiding them through Lean Entrepreneurship methodology and related topics, helping them develop their startup ventures, and providing valuable feedback and direction. Ideal candidates will bring lived entrepreneurial experience, a deep understanding of Lean methodology, and the ability to mentor and train diverse groups of participants. Additionally, candidates should be flexible travelers, open to traveling globally or engaging virtually, and possess cultural sensitivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Educational Content Development: Assist in developing or personalizing educational content for entrepreneurship training programs, in collaboration with the client's team.
  • Teaching Lean Methodology: Lead educational sessions on Lean Entrepreneurship methodology and other related topics, both in person and via webinars.
  • One-on-One and Group Mentoring: Conduct mentoring sessions with early-stage entrepreneurs, offering advice, feedback, and direction on developing their business ideas.
  • Program Reporting: Support the client's staff in reporting on program progress, including providing input on program outcomes, successes, and areas for improvement.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Support additional tasks related to program delivery, as required by the client's team.

Required Qualifications

  • Lived Entrepreneurial Experience: Proven experience as a startup entrepreneur, demonstrating firsthand understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by early-stage businesses.
  • Expert Knowledge of Lean Entrepreneurship: Deep understanding of Lean Entrepreneurship principles, methodologies, and frameworks.
  • Mentoring/Training Experience: Strong background in mentoring or instructing early-stage entrepreneurs, helping them develop their business ideas or products.
  • Cultural Awareness & Sensitivity: Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of entrepreneurs from different cultural backgrounds.
  • Flexibility to Travel: Willingness and ability to travel, including internationally, as part of the program delivery.
  • Experience with Diverse Groups: Strong experience working with a diverse array of entrepreneurs from varied industries and sectors.
  • Preferred (but not required): Experience with startup investment or venture capital is a plus.
