Job Description

This volunteer project involves enhancing the user interface and user experience of eKutir’s digital platforms, including the ALLIN Platform System and other associated tools. These platforms serve as a bridge between farmers, agricultural stakeholders, and technology-driven solutions to improve productivity, sustainability, and livelihoods. The primary goal is to create intuitive, accessible, and user-friendly designs that empower farmers and stakeholders to interact seamlessly with the platform. This will help ensure that the technology effectively addresses their needs, improves decision-making, and drives greater adoption. As our design volunteer you will:

  • Collaborate with the eKutir team to understand user needs, challenges, and workflows.
  • Design wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for platform features and interfaces.
  • Conduct user research and testing to refine designs and ensure usability.
  • Work on improving the platform’s visual aesthetics and overall user experience.
  • Provide recommendations to align design solutions with eKutir’s mission and goals.

Your work will directly impact the lives of smallholder farmers by enabling them to access actionable insights, improve productivity, and enhance their livelihoods. Desired Skills And Experience

Core Design Skills:

  • Strong understanding of user interface design principles, including layout, typography, color theory, and visual hierarchy.
  • Proficiency in creating responsive designs that work across different devices and screen sizes
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices Experience with design systems and component libraries UX

Research & Strategy

  • Ability to conduct user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing
  • Experience creating user personas, journey maps, and information architecture
  • Understanding of user psychology and behavior patterns
  • Data analysis skills to make informed design decisions

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in industry-standard design tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD Knowledge of prototyping tools (e.g., Principle, ProtoPie, InVision)
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and web/mobile design constraints
  • Familiarity with version control and design handoff tools

Process & Collaboration

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking
  • Experience with agile development processes
  • Excellent communication skills to work with developers, product managers, and stakeholders
  • Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design process and problem-solving approach

Additional Valuable Skills

  • Understanding of front-end development principles
  • Experience with animation and micro-interactions
  • Knowledge of A/B testing and optimization techniques
