Job Description

We are looking for help with our new Agricultural Support Mobile Platform. We are developing a comprehensive mobile application that will serve farmers, agricultural extension workers, and agri-food entrepreneurs. The platform will help users access crucial farming information, market prices, weather updates, and connect with agricultural experts and buyers. Project Goals are to:

Create an easy-to-use mobile app accessible to rural users on both iOS and Android
Help farmers access real-time agricultural information and market prices
Enable direct communication between farmers and agricultural experts
Provide weather alerts and crop management recommendations
Support agri-food entrepreneurs in supply chain management
Function effectively in areas with limited internet connectivity

Volunteer Tasks And Responsibilities

Development Tasks:

Build offline-first features using React Native Implement location-based services for weather and market information
Create data visualization components for crop prices and weather patterns
Develop offline map functionality for rural areas Implement multi-language support for local languages
Build image recognition features for crop disease identification
Create inventory management systems for agri-food entrepreneurs

Collaboration Tasks

Work with agricultural experts to understand farmer needs
Participate in user research with farming communities
Document features for rural user training
Test app functionality in low-connectivity environments
Support other volunteers in feature development
