Job Description

We are currently hiring an Area Manager for New York Metro. This role will cover all 5 boroughs of NYC.The ideal candidate must live in NYC or Northern NJ.

  • Please note that while this position is listed as “working remotely”, our sales positions are field based and require you to live within the territory listed to visit accounts, unless explicitly stated otherwise.

The Area Manager (AM) is responsible for increasing availability and visibility of Boston Beer portfolio of brands within their assigned distributor territory through direct selling and wholesaler management to generate depletion growth. Creating a value added wholesaler relationship within all levels of their organizations. Manage and develop all direct reports (DM/MM) by utilizing our selling and evaluation process.

What You'll Brew:

  • Execute internal sales objectives & improve account conditions using BBC systems and selling process
  • Learn and be proficient in beer industry knowledge, brewing, and BBC product styles
  • Hunt for new business opportunities while growing current business in multi unit chains and key accounts
  • Utilize effective verbal and written communication with wholesaler, accounts, and coworkers including ability to deliver impactful presentations
  • Use technology platforms available to mine data to plan and identify opportunities across the account base, market and wholesaler
  • Build strong relationships with wholesalers and retailers by providing leadership and training across defined geography
  • Assist in the develop Goals, Strategies, Objectives and Tactics for the defined district
  • Manage budget for given district and account base
  • Conduct/participate in monthly/quarterly Planning & Review meetings to benchmark current progress to goal and sell BBC objectives
  • Manage, lead, train, motivate, and develop team of direct reports by working with them on the BBC selling process and accomplishing defined objectives
  • Regular travel in the market to service retailers and wholesalers (4x a week)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6+ years Consumer Package Sales and Management, to include proven success with managing and developing a team and individuals
  • Valid driver's license, registered and insured vehicle, and ability to drive
  • Ability to lift and move cases of beer frequently
  • Ability to travel weekly within the market
  • Willing to work nights and weekends as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Extensive On Premise experience
  • Adult alcohol industry experience

Level: 5

At the Boston Beer Company and in accordance with pay transparency laws, we are open about our salary ranges. For this role, the salary range is between $104,000 – $159,000. However, it’s important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location. Additionally, this position qualifies for an discretionary annual bonus based on company and induvial performance, and certain sales roles might include a car allowance
