The
Bioinformatics Platform of the Genomics Core Facility at Helmholtz Munich is looking for a highly motivated Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Bioinformatician (f/m/x) to join our team of experienced scientists. Our team provides primary, secondary, and tertiary (custom) bioinformatic analyses, courses, and consultation for our core users.
The German National Cohort (NAKO Gesundheitsstudie) is Germany's largest health study and will generate whole genome sequencing (WGS) data in a large scale high thoughput format. You will work closely with the participating NGS centers and the cloud compute vendor.

Your tasks
- Data management, processing of WGS data using a cloud platform
- Setup of a QC infrastructure in close collaboration with the cloud compute provider and participating NGS centers
- Design and implementation of analysis pipelines for WGS data analysis
- Monitoring the WGS workflows and data QC, and working with the participating centers to ensure the timely generation of an accurate data set
- Communication and reporting of results to stakeholders
Your profile
- Master or PhD in Bioinformatics or related fields
- Strong programming skills (R & RMarkdown, Python, bash, git)
- Experience with data management of large cohorts and the analysis of WGS data (QC, variant calling)
- Experience with Linux systems and the use of high-performance (cloud) computing environments
- English language proficiency
- Highly motivated team player with strong communication skills, a proactive mindset and a service-oriented personality
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with container technologies (e.g. Docker, Singularity), Conda and workflow languages (e.g. Nextflow)
