Job description

The Role

Translation

You will be responsible for :

  • Translating and reviewing the assigned content according to the guidelines and prescribed due dates.

Linguistic Reviews And Quality Assessment

  • Perform regular linguistic reviews of their work as well as the work performed by other translators.
  • Perform quality checks on the content they translated as well as content translated by other translators to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Track and monitor translation quality, flag potential quality issues, and take actions to address them.
  • Make the final decisions in case of arbitration between translators and LQA reviewers
  • Ensure that all performance metrics set by the customer including quality, OTD, and responsiveness are met for all projects.
  • Own the quality of all projects delivered

Loc Testing And A/B Testing

  • Regularly perform Localization testing as per the task instructions/test plan.
  • Update the translation to correct all linguistic errors found during testing.
  • File bugs for all non-linguistic issues and follow-follow the necessary to ensure that these issues are resolved.
  • Help identify terms/strings up set-up QTs and provide translation variants for these QT experiments.

Create And Maintain Linguistic Assets

  • Translate and/or review Glossaries to ensure accuracy and appropriateness
  • Update the glossary as necessary based on external feedback, and LQA feedback and communicate these changes to the translators and internal team members
  • Perform necessary global clean-ups in case of glossary updates or as a result of LQA feedback, etc.
  • Create and maintain a Language-specific style guide for your target language.

Communicate and collaborate

  • Collaborate with delivery teams as well as external vendor teams e.g. translators and LQA reviewers as required throughout the localization process.
  • Proactively flag potential or existing issues and regularly follow up to ensure timely resolution
  • Make sure to keep appropriate POCs informed about potential or actual delays, and quality issues, and share regular updates about the progress of work
  • Participate in 1:1 or group/team meetings with various stakeholders via different communication channels and emails

Ideal Profile

  • University degree preferably in Linguistics, Journalism or Mass Communication
  • 100% native fluency in the Khosa language.
  • At least 3 years of experience in translation and localization.
  • Familiarity with the target language culture and trends.
  • Knowledge of CAT tools and translation quality management.
  • Experience localizing apps and mobile content
  • Familiarity with Facebook’s translated content.
  • Strong linguistic and analytical skills to make critical judgments regarding translation quality.
