What’s the Role?

As part of Loggerhead’s Finance team, the Senior Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in conformity with U.S. GAAP, Statutory Accounting Principles and accounting practices prescribed or permitted by the Florida OIR.

A Day In The Life Could Include

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (SAP and GAAP) in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Record journal entries and post entries into the general ledger
  • Assist in the preparation of the quarterly and annual statements
  • Prepare and record journal entries related to reinsurance transactions in accordance with GAAP and SAP
  • Analyze and reconcile reinsurance accounts, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues promptly
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for reinsurance activities.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
  • Oversee expense budgeting and budget variance analysis
  • Maintain the book and tax depreciation schedules
  • Participate in the external financial audit process, including state examinations
  • Create Insurance reports as necessary for reporting & analytics
  • Perform periodic GL reconciliations of balance sheet accounts (including AR, Commission Payable, Reinsurance Payable, etc.)

Knowledge & Experience

  • Four (4+) years of P&C insurance accounting and reporting experience
  • Must have knowledge with U.S. GAAP and SAP
  • Must have knowledge of reinsurance accounting
  • Advanced knowledge in internet software and MS Office products

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting, Finance or Business and/or equivalent experience
  • Property & Casualty Insurance experience required
  • CPA required

Working Conditions

  • Remote work environment with occasional time spent at the Tampa Corporate Headquarters for training and corporate / departmental meetings
  • May be required to work flexible hours and/or weekends (minimal)
