Job Description

We are looking for a creative UI/UX Developer to join our USV (Uncrewed Surface Vessel) team. Our innovative USV’s are widely celebrated within the maritime industry. Our products are used for subsea inspections, seafloor mapping and environmental monitoring. Using our USV’s reduces operational costs, human risks, and CO2 emissions 

As UI/UX Developer, you are responsible for defining UI/UX standards and creating product guidelines for stepwise acceptance. You ensure compliance with OpenRemote (Norway) standards for autonomous vessel navigation and supporting the transition from fully remote and manned operations towards increasing levels of autonomy. 

You are the ideal candidate if you share enthusiasm for setting new boundaries while you can take others with you in this process. You find yourself in a team consisting of multiple nationalities where creative ideas and initiatives are encouraged. 

Your role  

  • Define UI/UX standards and create product guidelines for stepwise acceptance; 

  • Ensure compliance with OpenRemote (Norway) standards for autonomous vessel navigation; 

  • Write product user stories to support the transition from fully remote and manned operations towards more autonomy; 

  • Ensure user stories are aligned with the product vision and end user requirements. 

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, engineers, and external partners, to ensure smooth execution of UI/UX design and development; 

  • Act as the main point of contact for UI/UX-related issues and queries; 

  • Identify opportunities for UI/UX improvements in current workflows and champion the required changes. 

 

Your track record  

  • Degree in Design, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; 

  • Frontend development knowledge: Working familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, React, to ensure design feasibility and seamless handoffs;

  • Knowledge of tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD or similar software; 

  • Experience with user research and prototype testing; 

  • Proven ability to create and maintain complex design systems with preferably a portfolio to show; 

  • Familiarity with OpenRemote standards for autonomous vessel navigation is considered a plus; 

  • Strong understanding of User-Centered Design principles; 

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills; 

  • Proactive mindset with the ability to build solutions independently or with partners.
